Is there an HP-UX 10.20 binary for Apache out there? I'd like to turn my
old HP 9000 712/60 into a cute little web server and I'll be dammed if I can
get gcc for HP-UX 10.20 and source code - what I'd really like is a
pre-compiled binary, depot, whatever that I can install and run and turn the
little 712 into an Apache server.

Thanks,

Nobody should install this.

The current version of Apache 2 is 2.0.46, which fixes CAN-2003-0245,
CAN-2003-0189, CAN-2003-0132, CAN-2002-0840, CAN-2002-0654, CVE-2002-0392
at the very least.

I suppose I could produce HP-UX 10.20 binaries of anything, including
but not limited to Apache, but the 9000/720 is a little slow, and a lot
of the software on the 9000/C3000 has been compiled without +DAportable.
(I was trying to make Apache for the previous poster yesterday, but the
fact that the Perl in the system is +DA2.0 made the result unusable for
a 9000/712. Maybe I'll just do it on the 720. It's doing nothing sensible
anyway)

With that hardware, you can also move to linux. debian-woody is also
available for PA-Risk. As far as I know, a 712 series machine was their
first pa-linux-webserver.

Start at the debian site and follow the links to the developmentteam.

Yes, because it beats the living crap out of HP-UX

Does it?

Last I checked, it didn't support much anything at all. It might have
been a while ago. :-)

Perhaps I should install a spare disk in that 9000/720 and give it a spin.

I "use" it on a 712/80 and it runs really smoothly.

Yep!
