I posted here about my paper-jamming Laserjet III. From tips received here
got a fixyourownprinter pickup-jam repair kit. Finally reviewed the first
installation half of the install CD. WOW! Very complicated! Bet I screw up
and ruin my printer when I get brave enough to try it. <sigh> Who knew it
would be so hard. Nothing like what I had expected.

Let's see, your printer is already not working, yes? If you fix it, you
bring back to life a 20+ year old device. If you don't, you get a clear
message to yourself that it's time to replace it. Win-win.

a fixed LJ III will outlast any new printer that replaces it.

I still keep my LJ5 for tha very purpose. It can print 10's of thousands of
pages without a hickup, I keep a newer color Laser for color but the old
workhorse LJ5 is damn good for mono.
