I've heard vicious rumors here and there that there existed EPROM upgrades for the MicroVAX3100 series to allow for larger boot drives. I've heard another vicious rumor that there's a VS2000 upgrade that would allow for booting from the SCSI port. Hello. I acquired a PDP11/23 with a Calay CAD system installed, plus tablet and original 8" distribution disks. It seems that VAXstation memory (such as MS44-DA or MS44-DC) is really tough to come by. I'm assuming that it's completely DEC proprietary and there is no "modern" substitute. I don't know enough about memory to know if it's possible to build an adapter of some sort? Maybe someone has already done this? Curious to know how to find memory for... more »

Hello, I've recently acquired several old VAX systems on which I plan to install OpenVMS 7.3 under the most fantastic hobbyist license. I found a build of perl which will work. I found zip/unzip and many other goodies. Does anyone have a web server of any sort running on their hobbyist machine? I'd love to hear about it!... more »
