Douglas,

DeskPack Plus and FontPack Plus are GEOS applications. Team-Mate 128 is
a word processor / database / spreadsheet program (like Jane but
without the graphical front-end). Super Snapshot is a ROM cart, I
believe, and News Maker 128 is for printing newsletters so I would put
that under word processing or graphics.

I admit, some of the programs are hard to put in one category.

If anyone has a .d64 of Micro Illustrator 128, and wants to slide it
under my door while nobody is looking, I promise not to call the feds
on you. :)

Thanks for the info!! I have moved some of the listings. I think that
I should leave News Maker 128 in the miscellaneous as it isn't exactly a
word processor and although it is true that you can use a word processor
to do publishing, I don't think that anyone really uses News Maker 128
for writing letters, etc. Team-Mate 128 is difficult..I'm not sure where
to put it so I think I'll leave it in the Misc heading also.

Anyone know what kind of programs Matrix 128 and FasTrac 128 are?

Thanks !!!!

Under BBS software, don't forget about C-Net 128, and a lesser known BBS
soft called Spiceware 128-Net (aka SpiceNet 128) that had about 20 boards
mainly in the Texas / Southern USA area way back when. It was written by
Darrell Spice Jr. and copyright/sold under the Spiceware label.

Spicenet 128 (and 64 version) will be available again at some point in the
near future. I have the source now and need to clear up a few things (and
write some dox) before I release it for mass consumption.

Matrix - Utility. From the package, "Matrix lets you use these
powerful C-128 features with your existing C-64 software. One.... * 80 Column
Screen. * Numeric keypad and utility keys. * Runs twice as fast at 2 MHz.
Two... Matrix gives you these new C-64 mode capabilities: * Transparent
disk utilities... [snip] * Transparent screen dump at any time. * Fast
loaders... [snip]. Three... Matrix provides new and powerful utilities
such as: * Directory Manager... [snip] * Fast Copiers... [snip] * Autoboot
Makers... [snip]
Fastrac 128 - Disk copier for unprotected disks.

I notice that in the BBS - Online section you have a couple of programs
listed that were shareware rather than commercial programs. They are
Dialogue 128 and ProTerm128, and perhaps a couple of others.

If you are going to include shareware, then DesTerm deserves a place on your
list, and another of my favorite C128 terms, UltraTerm III. Also EBBS 128.

Uridium Plus (aka Uridium 2) can also be added to this list. 2 Mhz
mode is detected, and used to improve the scrolling which is otherwise
pretty ugly on NTSC machines. As far as I can tell, there is no
improvement for PAL machines.

Slight correction, it's never been officially referred to as Uridium 2 -
there's an actual Uridium 2 by Braybrook and the Graftgold team on the Amiga.

i think it adds more bullets and a faster top speed to the scrolling; if you
"trick" it into running 2MHz enabled on a 1MHz machine (freeze it after the
detection on a C128 and feed the freeze to a C64), the scrolling starts
chopping a bit.

A lot of Braybrook's stuff does 2MHz support; Paradroid Turbo and Heavy
Metal editions, Alleykat (the first Braybrook game with 2MHz support),
Morpheus uses the spare time to throw more stars and objects around
according to the diary and i think Intensity does similar.

As a self-shameless plug, although it runs in 64 mode I'd also like to point
out that HyperLink 2.5e can boot in 128 mode (and use the fast serial option
to start quicker), and can use 128 VDC RAM as cache.

I don't know how strict your definition of "Commercial" is, but many
C-128-specific programs and games were published in Compute, Ahoy!, etc.
I've got two D64s of all of Clevel Blakemore's C-128 games from Ahoy, as
follows.

CBAHOY8A.D64 (Cleve Blakemore AHOY 128 disk A)

1. Dark Fortress (01/87)
2. Planet Duel (04/87)
3. Wraiths (06/87)
4. Galactic Cab Co. (06/87)
5. Archer (08/87)
6. Chainmail (09/87)
7. Empire (10/87)
8. Orbit (11/87)

CBAHOY8B.D64 (Cleve Blakemore AHOY 128 disk B)

1. Pizza Boy (12/87)
2. Jungle Jake (01/88)
3. Dark Fortress II (02/88)
4. Phantasy (03/88)
5. Grim Oak Manor (04/88)
6. Rashgar (06/88)
7. Lunar Buggy (07/88)

Hello!

As a general rule I was trying to only list programs that were
commercially sold, not type-in's. I have already bent this rule
slightly by including a few shareware programs (all bbs I think) but if
I started listing magazine programs the list would end up being huge.
The programs that you listed were type-in's from the magazine so I don't
think that I should include them, although they are good programs and I
really appreciate you taking the time to post about them!

Thanks!!!!!!
