Per the regular announcement of progress on the Comprehensive Commodore
Emulation project, I'm happy to announce that a preliminary Commodore 65
emulator is now available, running as a proof-of-concept model on the
64. It uses the Incredible KIMplement's 6502-on-6502 emulation (modified
for the 4510) and patches to RAM-under-ROM to BASIC 2.0 to generate a
compelling partial implementation running at a reasonable speed. VIC-III
features are also partially implemented, though resolution is halved, and
Stereo SID owners may experience stereo SID music where supported.

As this is only a partial emulation, it is fortunately small and easy to
try on most systems.

The emulation is incomplete, but you can download the emulator and try it
now. For release notes and a screen shot, see

http://www.floodgap.com/ccemu/

or you may fetch the .prg (6K pucrunched) directly

http://www.floodgap.com/ccemu/c65emu.prg

It has been tested on the C64, 128, VICE and Power64.

Please send me any and all comments.

Interesting date to release software -- besides viruses and worms,
that is!

The SID sounds a bit "off". ~.^

That, and the data of a dump screen I get after it crashes after the
first key struck coincidently look like an 80s singer.

/me cries for help ;-)

There were some issues with synchronization between sound pulses which I did
not resolve to my liking. It was sort of hacked on at the last minute. I
expect to improve this in subsequent releases.

You know, at 6K, you could easily make this into a cartridge. So you could
have a C65 in your pocket. (Jokes about "or are you just happy to see me"
left as an exercise to the reader).

I trust that future editions will also be upgraded to more current memes :-/

And that is April 1st 2010 by chance? ;-)

Is it possible that your sig delimiter is none? My client does not strip
your signature.

Is it not appropriate for a retro joke to use a retro meme? ;-)

Very funny :) So is that it, just the "C65" screen and then the other
screen? No cool hidden parts or anything?

No, just that. I'll add this as a feature request ;-)
