Someone gave me a 64 that was used to run a BBS, and they had a custom setup
that switched between 4 different kernal ROMs. Here's the dump (Original and
split into the 4 kernals)
http://www.jammingsignal.com/c64/Auto-Boot-V2-V9-RV2.zip
They seem to be:
1. The original 64 Kernal (binary match with the one in VICE)
2. Something called "BASIC V9" - Not sure what's different about it (and
it's just the kernal anyway)
3. The original 64 Kernal with drive default set to #8
4. The AutoBoot ROM which automatically LOADs/RUNs the first file on #8 on
startup (great for a BBS.)
Feel free to grab a copy, and can anyone shed light on exactly what they do,
and if these are custom or previously known?
Hey Leif,
I burned that 4th kernal image using a Promenade C1, Worked great.
Sure wish I had something like that back when I ran a C= BBS.
Much appreciated for the files...
Just curious if any are built off the JiffyDOS Roms?

They don't appear to be, but I'm purely basing that assumption on the
startup screen.
Yup, confirmed.

The tape strings are gone, so there's mods, but without the other half its
likely useless.
>> 3. The original 64 Kernal with drive default set to #8
This one has the string "Rich-Hill Tel", along with "turbo" and "turbo
charger" in it. I can't find anything about it but it seems to be more
than just a modded stock ROM.

Yup, default device 1 is now 8, and several ":*" strings. I think I will
add this one to my C64.

None appear to be.
PS.

Do you mean the BASIC portion? The 64 I got these ROMs from just has the
normal BASIC ROM, although it is socketed so it's possible a different one
was used in the past.
Thanks for digging into them.
