Anyone ever had this guy ask a million questions on your auctions then
NEVER BID ON ANYTHING?

He has bought quite a few things in the past 3-4 months.
Also, he's been a member since 2002, so what exactly is
the problem?

So, he asks a bunch of questions and then decides not
to buy something from you? I'm sure it isn't just you.

I have asked many questions and then not bid/bought
an item. I've even done that at department stores.

Where is the harm?

I can personally vouch for Dave, and I do. Besides, better that he ask a
"million questions" and determine that's not the item he wants, rather than
he ask no questions, buy the item, and complain about it, no?

I also have to toss my two cents in here - if the item I want to bid on has
unclear information, I ask questions. If the answers don't satisfy me, I
either move on or I ask further questions. Too many people don't put clear,
concise, exact information into their auctions and/or their answers.

(This doesn't necessarily apply to you, Dragos, but to eBay sellers in
general)

Asking and answering questions is part of the ebay experience and I have
been put off from bidding on items by the attitude of the seller in
providing answers to my questions or not answering the questions properly.
Maybe he just got a bad vibe...

This guy RARELY asks questions related to the item. It seems he is
trying to use the ebay feedback system as a means of social
interaction.

When I recieve the SAME question over and over after it has been
answered, it is bullshit.

When I recieve 5 comments like the following on one auction, it is
bullshit.

"I can't believe you haven't had any Offers yet? I guess all the real
Commie users are either dead or on vacation? Doesn't Anybody know what
this drive is?"

WTF?

that is not a question from an interested buyer.....

I know I am not the only one he has done this too. I'll answer REAL
questions about my auctions, that is not what this post is regarding
(although, as usual, people jump to conclusions)

let me give you another example of a comment on THE SAME AUCTION AS
ABOVE:

"Hello again,

The nice thing about your auction (of this outrageously rare drive) is
that it's a BIN w/ a Best Offer option - meaning the Snipers can't
just in at the last second!

They have 6 hours to make up their minds... :)"

Seriously? Thats normal? or hell, even proper use of the ebay contact
system?

You should have elaborated a bit more in your original post if you didn't
want people to jump to conclusions.

It sounds like those who know him might want to drop him a line and
point out the issue with using the eBay communication system in this way.

As a seller, I can understand the concern raised. Trying to be a good
merchant, you work very hard to prioritize such questions (often writing
rules to catch specific eBay verbiage in titles and sending them to
special mailboxes for immediate followup) in order to respond to them as
soon as possible (especially so if the auction is close to ending). If
the question is just a general comment or suggestion, it's keeping the
seller from answering potentially important questions from potential buyers.

If he should desire to send general commentary to the seller, there is a
link on the "Seller Info Page" that can be used, and it uses a different
title that can be excluded from message filters/rules.

First, let me say Thank You to all who have supported me in this tirade. It's appreciated.

As for this person's posting about a reasonable eBay procedure to determine a Seller's connection to their auction, I advise all my contacts that:

(1) If they are interested in an eBay auction, send an email to the Seller and see their response. (Email Blocks will never receive a response, e.g., AOL settings)

(2) If their response never directly answers your question, decide whether or not you want to risk a bid.

(3) If you see an item on eBay that you already have and are not necessarily interested in bidding on, don't hesitate to send an email to the Seller to either Compliment them on their auction or to include addition Wording that may help their auction - it's Usually received as a welcomed input by the Seller.

Most of us adhere to the concept that eBay is a Community and helping each other is what it’s all about; don’t you think so?

So, I think the original poster's misguided blog could have been better spent by including more information in their Auction Descriptions so that a potential Bidder would not have to have asked a technical question about the item in the first place. Also, it seems that some don’t know how to take a Compliment?

What does "determine a Seller's connection to their auction" mean? Seems to
me the connection is somewhat obvious. As for eBay's procedures, they provide
a link to, "Ask a question" rather than to "Compliment seller on the rarity
of their item" or "Start a conversation" etc.

Don't be silly, Ebay is NOT a community. Ebay is ONLY for selling/buying
stuff.

Since you're advising contacts about these things, I'd respectfully ask
you reconsider the above advice in relation to offering "compliments".
Additional wording sounds fine, but if compliments are to be sent, I'd
highly recommend using the correspondence link from the seller profile page.

Casual users of eBay probably won't mind either way, but recurring
sellers may grow weary of such use of the auction correspondence system.
If you know the seller outside of eBay, I'd actually recommend email
be sent via an alternate channel. That way, the seller can read/respond
to the accolades at their leisure.

I mean, it's one thing to be a grown man who didn't make it past the
fourth grade; but to advertise that fact with each and every post is
something entirely different. It goes to show that any nine year old
can get 100% positive feedback. They set the bar awfully low for that
to happen. I have 100% feedback too, but I don't brag about it. It's
kind of like bragging about passing into the 5th grade; it's not

Ah, Gladson; he is so last year. Living in the past, relishing what
he thinks are his conquests. He still thinks I must have something to
prove in life. He is my biggest fan, you know. He even hosts my

I knew he was inept, and he did not disappoint when he dropped the

did, it was great for the yuks and proving what I knew about him all

Did I tell you about the time I contacted Gladson's company for web
hosting? He exploded in his usual unprofessional way, exactly as we
expected. What an embarrassment to those who have to work with him,
when I shared his outburst with them! We got quite a few yuks out of
that. Oh, and that power supply thing. Funny thing that. Gladson
never told us that Francois made that power supply for him as a
favour; he left us with the impression that Francois was marketing
these power supplies for sale to the general public. What a great
guy, eh? Francois did something nice for him, didn't even ask for
enough money to recover his own expenses, only to get bashed all over
the forums when it unexpectedly failed. I figured posting the truth
was the least I could have done.

Have you ever noticed how Gladson refers to everyone he has a
disagreement with as douches? It's not just the two guys who wondered
what happened to their order; it includes a good many others,
including Yours Truly. That's just the kind of guy Gladson is. Do
him a favour, he'll sell you out at the first problem. Have a
disagreement with him, you're a douche. Ask him some questions, face
an all-out attack. Hmm, are there really that many douches in the
world? I know some of these douches personally, and they're actually
decent people. I don't think a month goes by without Gladson getting
into a dispute with someone else. It doesn't surprise me in the
least; it makes for great entertainment as we douches get a laugh out
of his escapades.

As for me, I think I've done quite well for a sad, loathing person
with no direction in life. I own my own house in an upscale
neighbourhood, drive a modern sports sedan, and just bought a brand
new all-wheel-drive SUV last year. That's owned as in no payments,
including the SUV. This sad, loathing person has somehow managed to
be married to the same woman for the past 14 years, share in the
upbringing of a brilliant son, and have enough in savings to not have
to worry about anything. Some people think I have no direction, but I
do have a direction: the whims of my own ever-changing interests. To
me, life is like a smorgasbord of opportunities. Some people are
content to pick one or two things; me, I want a taste of as much as I
can. We only live once; there's no going back to the smorgasbord for
seconds. I've gone from working in an office tower to working on the
shop floor, just because I wanted to experience both. I've been a
professional photographer, peer tutor, business owner, and played in
real estate and money management, and have both enjoyed and profited
from those endeavors. I got into IT when things were good, I got out
of IT when things went bad. I was flipping houses before there was a
show about it, while the market was booming. Today, I'm a full-time
student, but I'm also a fitness facility supervisor at Legends in
Oshawa. I don't do it for the money; I do it for the experience. I
think I should like to try energy auditing for a couple of years, then
see what "Green" jobs show up after that. In my retirement, I think I
should like to travel and write about my experiences, contented in the
knowledge that the life I lived was rich and full, with no nagging
"What ifs" to disturb me. My memories of everything I have done,
including working on the shop floor in a factory, are all fond ones.

Enough about me (although I could go on for hours; it is my favourite
topic). I am flattered that Gladson has become such a big fan of my
life. Digging through decade-old posts on the internet; he's like the
tabloid digging up dirt, and I'm the celebrity. I can't say how much
this flatters me, to have such a devoted fan. It's so wonderful to
have him and his very small circle of friends talk about me at the
shows; that I occupy so much of his thoughts. Want to know how much I
think about or talk about Gladson when I'm at a show? Pretty much
never, unless we "Douche bags" need a good joke. I hope he keeps it
up; watching him foam at the mouth because someone on eBay asked him
some questions or someone else inquired about their order is
priceless. LOL

will
need to move it up to different tiers. My planning committee is

Haha, nice one.

As to the power supply fiasco, I do not see how paying $50 for a power
supply that broke after less than 3 hours is somehow Slappy doing me a
favor. Again, Flip-Flop logic at work.

I hope your night watchman duties are truly fulfilling, it would suck
to work a job you loathe, I wouldn't know anything about that. I am
smart enough to be in a field I enjoy and have been for the last 16
years or so.

You like to claim you are superior and "above all this" yet you seem
to have to have the last word. You regurgitate the same stories and
make grand assumptions about people sharing your feelings. Its funny
you think its cool that you are looked down upon by the "DO-ers" in
the community. You are a taker. You contribute NOTHING and drive
away even your confidants. Watch the newsgroups for my latest
contribution to the community, announcement coming in a week or so....
I look forward to your first contribution.

Yes, it is true that I inquired about the services of Lifeline data
systems. I submitted a web form, sincerely requesting for
information. Would you like to read the response I received?

> Good Morning Paul,
>
> What we can do for your business is make sure your website is accessed by
> only the tools you wish to have access to it. We will also perform hourly
> maintenance requiring significant downtime, usually 59 minutes per session.
> We also offer a hosting plan that allows you to paste hilarious photoshopped
> images of fellow forum members.
>
> We of course reserve the right to read all email and delete content on a
> whim.
>
> anyway, just wanted to say:
>
> HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA \
> HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>
> Later tool....

That is the official response I received from Lifeline Data Systems
for my inquiry regarding their service.

We got quite a laugh out of it; we all knew Gladson ALWAYS reacts
offensively, and this just proved it.

Another thing you'll notice is that Gladson uses half-truths and
outright lies in his attempt to trash someone's character. For
example, he did not pay $50 for the power supply; he actually only
paid $35, which as we know doesn't buy very much these days. What he
also neglects to tell people is that the person who made this power
supply for him for $35 offered to help him fix it; all he needed to
know was which wall wart failed. Gladson rejected his offer to help;
preferring instead a smear campaign.

I can easily demonstrate that Mark Gladson is, in fact, a liar. For
example, he claims I have contributed nothing. In fact, I created and
currently maintain the Amiga Jumpdisk preservation project:

http://paulq.org/amiga/jumpdisk/

While it's not a terribly huge contribution, it is nonetheless a
contribution and demonstrates that Mark Gladson is not an honest man.
I can produce a considerable list of other ways I've contributed; but
one is sufficient to demonstrate the inherent dishonesty of this
loathsome man.

Finally, I have to wonder; what exactly does Mr. Gladson have against
security officers, anyway? Is he really that much of an elitist that
he thinks he's better than a security officer? Pardon me for becoming
transparent, but in the words of Penn Jillette in response to people
thinking they were better than the people who worked at Wal-Mart, what
a fucktard.

What have you contributed that is not disk copy? Retro-link.com? how
many members there? I see about 4 people posting, 98% of those being
Roboto talking to himself. You are right. You clearly are a bigger
person than I. You would never maliciously try to solicit information
from someones alleged place of business. You are above all that,
right?

I suppose slappy ships to the usa for free? right? nope. $35 + $15
= what? $50. Shipping is factored into any purchase I make on the
internet. Then I don't have to bitch about shipping like others. If
i don't like what someone charges in shipping, then I don't buy it.

What I don't do paul, is photoshop other people and put words like
FAIL. Who is 4th grade? You are, Mr. Blart. It's funny, it seems you
are out of things to say for yourself, so you are going to start
quoting slappy. Anyone in the know, knows I have said not one false
thing regarding the power supply. Slappy had already pissed me off
prior to the PS failing, so why would I want anything further to do
with him. He has changed his story very recently too, trying to make
it look like I wanted to trick people into buying fake JiffyDOS. I
have better things to do than make $20 here and there. Its kind of
like why I don't change my own oil, my time is way more valuable.
Just like why I don't have some wal-mart/security job. Why waste my
time? I can do an hour or so of work and make more than I could in a
whole shift. So am I making fun of you for having a lame job? hell
yes. You are allegedly a grown man. By your testimony, "highly
educated", so why the steps backward? "security officers" are from
one of two camps: Can't get a better job or can't become/got fired
from being a cop.

I will say it again, I want nothing to do with slappy, he could offer
to wash my car, shine my shoes and pay for my kids college, I will
NEVER ask him for anything again. I also will not tell him which part
failed, as it is irrelevant, and I know it drives him bat-shit not to
know. Another interesting tidbit is he took the wal-warts from a
pilke of known bad ones at his university. A fact not revealed from
his latest tirade.

If thats all the evidence you have, you have nothing. Thanks for
posting the humorous response I sent you from what email account? oh
yeah, mine. So I guess thats not an official response. Is damn funny
though.

Later Blart....

Oh yeah, who was it that not only called underwriters labs regarding
the slappy power supply? Who also emailed his professors? oh, that
was Mr. innocent, Paul Quirk.

Double standards to the nth power...

It's also beyond me why he continues to insist I'm a security guard.
Not that I'd have a problem with it (I have respect for anyone who
earns an honest living and do not consider myself above any job),
except for the fact it's not true. It's fabricated like everything
else. He must think the Jumpdisk preservation project threw itself
together; nobody had to create the disk images, scan in the covers,
organize everything, write the html code, or pay for hosting. That's
the only way his lie could have any shred of truth, which it doesn't.
He has proven himself to be a liar. Not a fact-twister, not a flip-
flopper, but a straight out LIAR.

He doesn't like the truth because he can't handle the truth. The
truth that I have the resources to leisurely take a two year program
in the exciting field of renewables as a full time student while
maintaining a nice home, a sports sedan, an all wheel drive SUV, all
without taking on any debt and excelling in my field of study. The
fact that I have a prestigious part time job as a Fitness Facility
Supervisor with the City of Oshawa, as anyone who visits the Legends
fitness facility in Oshawa on a Wednesday evening can attest to with
their own eyes. The fact that I am a success in my life, without
being an arrogant prick to people who ask me questions because of it.
I will be more than glad to furnish evidence to support the fact that
I am a two year full time student and a part time supervisor with the
City of Oshawa to anyone who e-mails me. Not that it really matters;
I'd gladly do security work. Or change oil. Or wash a car. I would
do these jobs with pride if any of them were, in fact my job.

Well, what can I do now but point out the obvious character flaws Mark
Gladson has so graciously furnished in this thread himself. I could
talk about my own life some more, but then I would be bragging. I
suppose I'll just tuck my son in, enjoy a glass of wine with my wife,
and sleep well in our king sized bed.

Good night, and take care.

Wow, you have a job on Wdnesdays? I saw your little videos, noone
there when you are there, call it what you want, babysitter....

Wow, you think not knowing about some lame public domain archive of
bullshit amiga freeware is lying. You contribute SHIT. WOW! Good
Job.

oh, i need to post like you do, paul quirk. I wnat to make sure you
know I am referring to paul quirk. paul quirk is who I am referring to
here. PAUL QUIRK, if you missed it.

What an idiot...

BTW, PAUL QUIRK, did you or did you not post a picture of yourself,
PAUL QUIRK, shirtless, flipping the bird, and entitle it
fugladson.jpg?

Could you, PAUL QUIRK, please explain how you are "better" than I,
when you do shit like that.

Let me recap what I have gleaned from your ramblings:

I am a prick (I am)

I lie (I don't)

I am out to get people (untrue, just morons, who are not people in my
book)

Somehow, we all believe the tripe that comes out of your mouth (noone
does, except maybe roboto or the non bathing harlock)

I am in 4th grade (not true, I actually went to a ITT for EE, which
promised I could make $5000 less than I was currently making when I
graduated)

You are above the name calling, the lying, the smear campaigns and
general lameness (you are not, in fact you are one of the biggest
perpetrators in the community, well, not really as you are not part of
any community)

Did I miss anything PAUL QUIRK?

You're a fan of my videos as well. Excellent. You must be referring
to the shifts I picked up at the Durham College downtown campus.
Google Earth should show you that was the rooftop I was on. Did I
mention I am a full time student at Durham College? I quite enjoyed
myself for the two evenings that I had run of the place. Using the
free internet access, playing video games, playing with my new HD
camcorder, creating a rotating head intro with soundtrack for my new
vlog; it was such a loathsome experience. LOL!

Jumpdisk, a public domain archive of freeware? There's another lie.
Boy, you lie so much, you make a habit of it, don't you? I don't know
if it's intentional, or if you're just ignorant; but a lie is a lie,
you've been branded a liar, and you keep on proving the point. LOL!

If you believe I think I'm above anyone or anything, you're quite
wrong. I'm a human being, just like everyone else. I just happen to
be a happier human being who isn't picking fights with everyone who
asks me a question, unlike your own pathetic self. Damn, I look good;
why don't you post that beautiful shirtless picture of me flipping you
the bird again? LOL Or maybe you can go find some people whom you
consider morons and douche bags who are not real people anyway and
don't matter to you. Yes, you are a grade A Fucktard and a liar,
Gladson. Keep it up, we morons and douche bags are enjoying watching
you make an ass out of yourself! LOL

Yes, that makes it all better...

BTW, does "I have the resources to leisurely take a two year program

in the exciting field of renewables as a full time student while
maintaining a nice home, a sports sedan, an all wheel drive SUV, all

without taking on any debt and excelling in my field of study." Mean
you are freeloading on a "Second Career" program from your government?

Sounds like a lie to me.....

Nice try, Gladson. I've always maintained that, in addition to a six
figure buyout package from my previous employer, I also decided to
take advantage of the Second Career program. It makes for a pretty
easy go when I add in my wife's salary, so I don't really have to work
except to pad my resume and make a few extra bones to throw around.
Of course, considering the hundreds of thousands in income tax alone
I've paid to the government over the past decade, I feel I deserve it.

If Steven Hirsch did call you a liar, he would have been perfectly
correct; because that is exactly what you are. I think you lie so
much, you make a habit out of it. I'm not even sure if you can tell
the truth from your own lies anymore. I'd say you're a compulsive
liar, because in the whole time I've known you, I've never once known
you to tell the truth. That's why I never liked you. That, and the
fact that the way you treat others is pretty despicable. Over all,
I'd say you're a loathsome man. It would suck to be you.

HAHAHA, yes, now your repetition of the word liar is supposed to make
you feel important or relevant.

So far your proof of lies is me making fun of your "contributiion"

Thats a lie you made, so so far DQ 2 lies (in this thread at least),
Me, ZERO......
