My cousin was unfortunate enough to have purchased an AT&T PC 6300. It
has an 8088 Processor and it's BIOS doen't support a 1.44Mb floppy. I
thought it best to use the 1.44 Mb floppy and it's current hard drive in
a new case with a 286 motherboard. It won't be a great deal faster but
the BIOS will be more friendly and it is only used to run Wordperfect so
it should handle it ok. The problem is that the monitor is an AT&T CRT
319. It's cable has a DB 25 Male connector on it and there is no way to
use the video card from the old PC in the 286 board. I don't even know
if the monitor is CGA, EGA, or VGA. If anyone knows of a cable to adapt a
standard video card to this monitor or has any suggestions besides the
obvious (take it to the dump), I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank
You, Sam Rose

I tried an email response, but it bounced-

The 6300 had an 8086 processor (16 bit CPU I/O), not the 8088 (8 bit I/O) of
the original PC and XT. The AT&T 319 is an EGA monitor. One alternative is
to try to find an AT&T VDC-750 video interface card, which will work in
any 286 (or later) ISA slot, and has the right 25 pin connector for the
319 monitor. If that doesn't work, I can probably find the pinouts to make
an adapter for another EGA card with a different connector. I actually want
to do this myself. I have a bunch of 319 monitors I am combining with
various discarded 286 system boxes for charitable donations, and I have run
out of VDC-750 cards, but have a few generic EGA cards with a different
connector (D-9, I think).

Don't hold your breath. There should still be a file or to of info
about using something other than an "AT&T" monitor with the 6300 on
the unix "bbs" in Atlanta (770-734-4981, E-7-1 [NOT 8-N-1]) ... to
the effect that it's got to be a Multisync because the AT&T's just
a little bit wierd with respect to its video signal ... as it's a
little bit wierd in other respects.
