We have now launched SellMyRetro.com - the intention is to give an
alternative to ebay which is cheaper for selling retro electronic
items - but will also act as a place for traders, collectors and
buyers to come together.

We are currently working on a Wiki element for each category - the
text will be editable by store owners.
We also aim to have two types of webstore - a free one so that it can
be used to highlight the traders in each category even if they have
nothing to sell through the website, but if they do, they will pay
normal fees on everything, or a paid for webstore, which costs £5 per
month, but they get 50% off all fees.

Feedback is more than welcome - I am sure we will have missed some
important categories!

You have definitely missed the important issue of hosting bandwidth. That
site cannot get out of its own way. Gave up trying to browse it.

OK thankyou - I have done some speedups on the php code and contacted
the hosting company about bandwidth.

Well the hosting company have done some work on the server and I have
now installed the Zend Optimiser - alas GoDaddy don't seem to be one
of the fastest hosting companies about!

I recommend the Vintage Computer and Gaming Marketplace:

http://marketplace.vintage-computer.com/

It's been around quite a while.

Well that is a nice little site - it will be interesting to see how
sellmyretro.com develops - it probably helps that as well as hosting
the site, I am developing it to add more features, and listing a lot
of my own items for sale too!

Alas the code for http://marketplace.vintage-computer.com/ is not
adaptable by the site owner and you end up paying through the nose for
more features to be developed.

My own is based on the Enuuk platform - and I have reduced the time to
load the category page by 70%, which will help address the bandwidth
issue - although I think that is more down to the speed of the servers
run by Godaddy....

The Wiki section of sellmyretro.com is now implemented - would someone
like to provide some text on Atari 8 bit computers to add to the
site? Only those with webstores can edit the text, but I would love
to add some info on Atari and their computers.
