Apple //e hardware question
|
| |
Can a slot card use a softswitch location, that is not used by the //e, without causing any bus contention or other problem?
For instance, the //e doesn't use locations $C022, $C029 and $C034 for registers/softswitches. Are they safely available to use?
Accessing $C034 does click the speaker every other time, but would that... more »

My Computers and Games Website
|
| |
Hey guys,
I've been picking up lots of amazing computer hauls lately (original
Mac, IIGS Upgrade, NeXTstation Turbo Color, etc) so I finally decided
to make a little website site last week to showcase my stuff (The
last website I made was almost 10 years ago with Geocities using
strictly HTML, oh how times have changed). It's still a work in... more »

Howdy
For those of you who may not have seen this already, [link] is a very ambitious project to document every file fomat ever made. You may not be surprised to learn it is currently incomplete :-) For example, there is a rudimentary Apple DOS entry (which I created) but currently no ProDOS entry at all.... more »

Presenting Wade-Memoir
|
| |
I've availed myself of the outrageously good Apple II-related site webhosting deal David Finnigan provides with a2hq, and started a site. On this site I'm doing a gaming memoir, where I'm finally going to upload and talk about the Apple II games I made when I was younger. The majority have never been online (or even in public) before, with the exception of videos for Cull and Dragon.... more »

OT: Trying to recover from major FU by the registrar for wilserv.com
|
| |
Hi!
The registrar for my site "wilserv.com" has made a MAJOR error. I
just renewed "wilserv.com" for another year but during the renewal
process they lost my list of forwarding addresses so all email to me
for the past unknown number hours has been lost. Not having a backup
for the list didn't help. So, if you've sent me an email during the... more »

Update to ApplesoftMod
|
| |
ApplesoftMod is a plugin for the popular game Minecraft that enables gamers to play with an emulated Apple //e inside the minecraft world. The actual emulator is Jace in disguise. Lately I've been tweaking the behavior of how timeouts are handled to make it a little more lenient. I've also added a new command /aload which loads a basic program for you so that you don't have to type it in. This is a convenience feature since editing inside of Minecraft, while possible, is a royal pain in the neck.... more »

Hardcover Addison-Wesley GS Programming books
|
| |
Hi everyone,
Due to a move into yet a smaller place than the last time I moved, and a new baby on the way, I'm getting rid of some of the bulkier things.
Just wondering if anyone is interested in buying those hardcover books anymore.
They are in storage at the moment, but it won't take much for me to get them out. Not sure if I have the whole set or not, but I think I do. If there's interest, I'll list the titles and we can sort things out from there.... more »

mass storage for Apple //c
|
| |
So I've been playing around with the (relatively new) VDRIVE component of the ADTPro package. It lets you access a ProDOS disk image of whatever size, called "Virtual.po" in the "disks" folder of a computer running the ADTPro server software.
But it works over serial, so you don't need an Uthernet card or whatever, only a USB-to-RS232 cable. You just run VSDRIVE from BASIC.SYSTEM and then the disk image mounts as S2D1. You can CAT,S2 and go to town.... more »

Zephyr - a casual review
|
| |
I finally got around to playing Zephyr tonight. While it has some novel technical features, including audio speech and the almost never used in games double hi-res black and white mode, the game design is vague and the whole thing feels randomish and elusive.
Your ship flies endlessly forward over the planet's surface. Moving up and down changes your height above the ground, and moving left and right rolls the vista correspondingly, ala Buck Rogers. Also like in Buck Rogers, there is a finite play area. Move too far left or right you won't be able to go any further, though it's easy to not notice you're at or near the edge since the barricade is transparent. Both the top of screen radar or the numerical 'Sector' readout are more helpful than your eyes in this regard.... more »

Trackstar Software
|
| |
Hi, I'm looking for the most recent Trackstar software available.
So far, the highest revision I've personally seen is 1.2 that came bundled with a Trackstar Plus 2.0 board upgraded to a Trackstar E by Diamond.
However, I've seen references to 1.3, 1.5 and possibly 1.8 (the latter was from an ambiguous and somewhat unreliable source). If you have the time, please check your disks and if you find something newer, let me know. Thanks in advance.... more »
