Another, slightly more tedious way could be to rebuild your characters
with a character editor - in several issues of Hardcore Computist are
info tables and even complete programs to do this.
There's little about BT2 but a lot about BT3:
Infos: Issue 59 (p18,20,36), 61 (p32&33), 62 (p20) and several in issue
72.
Editor: Issue 64 (p 28) and errata in 66 (p7).
This method has the advantage of giving your party a monetary push as
well ;o)

I wonder if I would have the same problem transfering to the the 3.5"
disk version of BT3? Probably...

This is from memory so it might be faulty. IIRC, there was a company
called Golem Computers which had an ad in the back of various Apple II
magazines. They had Bards Tale, Wizardry, Wasteland, and a variety of
other editors. I think the guy ran the operation out of his basement,
it would be worth a shot to give that number a call and see if he's
still there.
He even claimed to have a BT III (GS version) editor even though the
game was never released.

Has a pre-release version of Bard Tale III GS ever shown up anywhere?
I loved the first two and would like to see what III was like, even if
it was never finished.
