The videos are half about the creation of the original game and half about the creation of the recently released version. It's awesome to see some of the film footage used for the original! (the opening climbing animation sequence was Jordan's father in a karate gi climbing onto the hood of the family car. AWESOME!)

Wow, that was really neat. I can see why it took him so long to
program those animations! Not exactly X1=X1+5 kind of animations, is
it? :)

And now he's got a 55 second video addressing the issue of pronunciation of the game's title:

Will your pronunciation be lauded or slapped or something elsed? Watch and find out!..

I beg to differ. :-)

Regardless of how Mechner himself pronounces it, the etymologically and
logically most correct pronunciation is ka-RA-te-ka (just say "karate" and
add the "ka" suffix).

While we are all begging to differ, what you say is also not totally true. There are many words in the dictionary, that when you add a suffix to it, it changes the pronunciation. There are also a few words that are spelled exactly the same, but pronounced differently between Canadians and Americans.

Huh! While I was typing this, the spell checker showed that when I added a suffix to pronounce to make it pronunciation, both the spelling and the pronunciation changed.

For the record, though. We Canadians don't have to argue that our way is the right way, we know we are, and that is enough. ;D
