I'd like to announce the first public alpha release of OpenEmulator,
an emulator of legacy computer systems. The main highlight of this
emulator is that it uses a software components framework, so it is
easy to expand a software emulation with additional software devices,
just as a real system can be expanded with real devices.
At this point I'd like to state clearly that actually there is no
emulation actually working. So why am I releasing? I just got an
OpenGL NTSC emulation working ;-).
You can find the project at:
Some things to do:
* Check the Apple II emulation.
* Go to the Monitor II settings, and fiddle with the settings.
To find out about the project, subscribe to the forum at:

Heh, yeah Marc's done a great job.
If you want to see the NTSC emulation running with another pic, you
can replace the dummy.png file. I've created one for Airheart. Email
me if you want it.
Cheers,
Nick.

When it rains it pours eh?
So far it looks fantastic. I'd personally like to see the unlit
scanlines be unlit instead of having every line doubled.
Apart from that I'm very interested to see how it works out when it's
actually scanning.
Good work!
Jim,
Totally agreed. It is totally beyond! Hey, they make a great product
you might consider when Marc gets the rest of the emulator working:

Scanlines!
....tried it! Again... unreal!! set just enough barrel to be
perfect!! If this turns out as good as it seems, I might just have to
play my 8-bit games on this instead of my IIgs!! :)
On most small-screen color monitors, the gaps between uninterlaced
lines were not particularly apparent, so I think it should at least
be optional.

tool--and it's seriously underused."
The new screenshots are amazing! Hopefully others will contribute or
adapt their emulators to your project... it's going to be the sh$%t!
For anyone else who's using Mac OS X, I found some equally old-school
monitor simulation with this awesome terminal program:

I just added a couple of improvements to OE. I fixed the aliasing
(strange vertical lines) problem in the NTSC emulation, and added a
lighting effect. Now that the aliasing is gone, I feel this needs
pixel element emulation :-). Screenshots and new release available at
http://openemulator.org.
Alex, thanks for the link.
With best wishes,
Marc.-
I forgot: try the new monochrome mode. You have to decrease contrast
to approx 1/3 for it to work well.
