Hello there,

I just got an Apple IIe but I don't have any boot disks for it. Anyone know
where I can get one? Can someone make a copy and sell one too me? Anyone
in the Redmond WA area have a boot disk I can copy? I have some disks.

Thanxx,

Adam

Use ADTPro to bootstrap one. (Via serial or even audio ...)
Everything you need - including video tutorials - is here:
http://adtpro.sourceforge.net/

Cheers,
Nick.

Very cool! Wish I would have known that before I ordered some boot disks.
I'll give a try.

Do you know a good source for Apple floppies?

Thanxx, :-)

eBay!

Athana still makes and sells them, but you need to buy $100 worth at
once:
http://www.athana.com/html/diskette.html

Floppydisk.com sells them in smaller quantities:
http://floppydisk.com/buy.htm

Is Athana the OEM?

Try contacting B&R Computer Services for old Apple II software.

Also, as a long-term strategy, keep an eye on ebay for NOS boxes of
disks.

I bought 2 bulk boxes of NOS Polaroid DSDD disks a year ago for a
song. I forget the price but it factored out to about 1/4 of the price
of athana for 200 disks. 100% RW success as well as holding a write
for a year. Just keep checking ebay from time to time

Will do. I was also considering getting on of the IDE/ATA compact flash
adapter cards. Then I could just dump a ton of discs on that and not have
to worry about creating/keeping track of a bunch of discs.

If you mean CFFA or MicroDrive, these don't work for whole DOS disks
unless you use DOS.MASTER, which relies on volume numbers and doesn't
work for all software.

Current options are CarteBlanche (which needs .NIB files), Alex's
previous PseudoDisk (also NIB IIRC) and the new iDisk. A future option
will be CFFA 3000.

Unless you mean having DSK files on a ProDOS volume and writing them
to floppy as needed. What do you mean? ;-)

Cheers,
Nick.

I'm a noob with this so I don't know what I'm talking about. I just had the
silly idea that it would just work. Guess I'll have to do some research as
to what I want to do.

Thanxx for the info,

Adam

Looks like I'll have to do some research on this. I'm was assuming it just
works. I'm new to these things.

Thanxx for the info. :-)
