Lethal Moves

Hi all

Y'know in ish 100 of AA, when they said Streetfighter 2 had been
scrapped, they had a preview of a game called Lethal Moves which radical
software were developing. It was looking pretty good, but as far as I
know it never saw the light of day. Or did it? What happened? Did rob
buckley just give up all that coding work or what?

AND: what is rob up to these days?

I'm quite certain that Lethal Moves was never released (not that I cared
- I hate beat-'em-ups), and neither was Rob's other big project, Butch
Cowardice: The Undersea Adventure (the sequel to Eve of Shadows, regarded
by a few people as the best CPC adventure ever).

I liked Ball Bearing as well! I think Hairy's review of Ball Bearing in AA
was very unfair, and seemed to be based entirely on the facts that:

a) it is very similar to a PD game called Croco Magneto, which appeared on
an AA covertape a year or so before the Ball Bearing review appeared
b) Ball Bearing is not PD (well, it wasn't at the time it was released),
whereas Croco Magneto is

I think that Ball Bearing is a lot better than Croco Magneto and was worth
paying the money for at the time. See

I await Hairy's comments on this one with some anticipation.

And neither was the DOOM clone advertised in the last AA. As for EoS, I
didn't like it much myself, although I could never get very far so
maybe it got better later on.

Last I heard he was developing something for the Gameboy Color. Can't
remember what though.

Ball Bearing was alright, but not really worth paying for.

Programming the Z80 - still. He's coding Gameboy stuff.

Ball Bearing kicked ass. I played it many times more than I played
practically any late-vintage CPC game (even Prehistorik II, though only
just).

Hi all, Rob Buckley here. None of those games were released, mainly cos I
lost interest in throwing money and time into developing stuff nobody
wanted. Butch Cowardice was about 100% system, 40% graphics, 20% adventure
done.
Lethal Moves was 80% coded, 20% graphics. Shame really cos this was probably
the best bit of z80 coding I've done, which isn't saying much.
Abandoned was about 30% coded and 10% graphics.
Another game Fluff 2 was completed by somebody else using the original level
designer. It was the original game code, and an altered title screen, and
different graphics. If anybody noticed the preview in Amstrad action had 3
level designs (graphic sets) which I never put into the finished game. This
was about two years after AA closed, and the guy asked if he could enter it
into PD, which I agreed too. I suppose its floating around somewhere.

I finished a game called Babe & Friends for the Color Gameboy last year,
have since worked on a cancelled Smurfs game, and now have signed up for
something that doesn't have a name yet. Apart from that I've been an
architect

Personally I think Ball Bearing (and Croco Magneto cos thats what BB was a
copy of) was my fav game. Crap programming though... which is a bit of a
speciality
