Hi. I have a GVP Impact series II a500-hd+. I have been noticing many
people have been posting 1-2meg. xfers rates on their busses. I am only getting
about 830kB/sec. out of mine. These people may have accellerators they aren't
telling me about, but just in case, how can I increase my transfers rate?
I have the drive set for fast ram, and am running on an 68010. What about the
dma mask memory location? Also, I plan on getting a derringer soon, would
I have to reconfigure the masking? Please leave me mail...

I think you have a Q105LPS of Q52LPS or something like that.. they don't go
any faster than that.. Swap it for a Q240LPS or Q120LPS and you'll see a BIG
increase in speed.

Please ! If you get a Derringer your HD speeds wil drop though the floor!
The Derringer does NOT have DMA memory.. So all transfers will have to be
done thru CHIPMEM.. IE Slow as a DOG !

If you want a REAL accelerator, get a VXL-30 and some fastram.. They may cost
a little bit more, but at least you will have a REAL accelerator in stead of
some toy.. The VXL will allow your HD to DMA straight to the 32bits ram.

(I DO work for GVP Netherlands, so I know what will work best with a GVP drive)

Way to go Eric - you have just made yourself many new friends. At last
someone has spoken up admitting knowledge of GVP products.
Don't be surprised if your mailbox gets a lot busier. :-)

Cheers,
