When I power on my Amiga 4000 it doesn't boot from harddisk for the
first time. After a reset it is booting fine. I've heard there is a
way to slow down the startup time so that the harddisk is recognized.
How do I do this ? Thanx.

If it were an A600/A1200 I`d suggest that
you cut line1(red) of the IDE ribbon connector.
Not sure if this is advisable for an A4000.

If you have 3.0 Roms, changing to 3.1 Roms extends the time the
computer is waiting for HD.

Did you just replace the hard drive with one of a different
brand? If so, you probably got one that doesn't conform to
the SCSI standard and gives improper status until the drive
is up to speed. I can't name the brand that gave me trouble
since I don't remember which one it was.

Hello Everett,

The Amiga 4000 has a IDE controller. I've had the same problem years
ago with a Amiga 4000 after changing the original Seagate harddrive
for a bigger one. In this Amiga a Western Digital 2 Gb drive is
installed. Is this brand the problem and is there a way to fix this ?

As I said, I don't remember which brand had the problem.
The obvious cure is to get a different brand. Quantum
was very good but I understand they no longer exist.

As zipper allready wrote, upgrading the ROMs to Kickstart 3.1 extends
the time the computer is waiting for hard drives.
