I recently acquired an Amiga 500 machine, and the MegaBall 3 game, but I can't play the game. When I try to launch the "MEGABALL" program, the Amiga says, "Error: Can't find LIBS:iff.library." I've run searches on all the major Web search engines, and I didn't get any results that were even remotely close to what I was looking for. Can anyone help?

Ahh, Megaball. Fun game, that :).

How familiar are you with the Amigan stuff, particularly with the
command line shell? You may even have the iff.library file already,
just not in the proper place. Is there the "libs" sub-directory in
the game's main directory?

(In short: all you have to do is copy the iff.library file to the "libs"
directory on your boot disk/partition, but doing it via GUI can be a bit
tedious, especially if you have Workbench 1.x.)

Okay, okay, okay. Don't tell anyone, but I'm actually running WinUAE on a Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit machine with Service Pack 2, using a "stolen" Amiga 500 kickstart ROM. ;)

No need to be shy - this is a game discussion forum, not an emulator
discrimination forum. Just consider picking up the official CD-ROM, okay? ;)

Anyways, is your copy of Megaball a self-booting diskimage in itself (an .adf
maybe), or are you trying to start it from Workbench (the desktop of the Amiga,
as if were)?

Well, no matter WHICH way I go, it ends up telling me, "Error: Can't load graphics! No CHIP mem?" I wonder what THAT is all about...?

One thing at a time, dude. Let's take care of iff.library business
first.

One way or another, it will require you to find and copy an Amigan file
(iff.library) on the Amiga side, not the PC side. Can you do that?

Yeah, I figured that part out already.

As I can see, if you and Hidehiko continue like this, you can expect to play
this game just in time for Christmas :)

To speed things up, try this one:
https://jumbo.iskon.hr/download/55cbe624-047b-4a2a-b76e-f4a74af5f10f
(to download, click on 'PREUZMI' button)

It's "Megaball 4", but you can also play levels from "Megaball 3" (press 'L'
on the main menu to load extra levels).

Just extract RAR archive anywhere and double-click:
Megaball (full screen).bat
or
Megaball (window).bat

No metter what I try, this game don't want to use AGA graphics. If someone
can solve that, let me know.

MB4 doesn't have any issue on my (real) A4000 (it even RTG's properly),
so I suppose this would be an emulator thing.

Normally, it's not a problem to play AGA games with WinUAE, but I don't know
what this game really need. Like Brandon says, game just write on the screen
"Can't load graphics" and don't says why can't do that. As I can see it's
was a problem with 'data types'.
So, now it's working, but just 'non AGA' version. Only I can find in
documentation is 'To use the AGA graphics module, you *MUST* have Workbench
3.0 or higher'. What this thing mean? Which part of Workbench this game
need? I think even author of this game don't know what this program require.
He just know that game works on his computer, but don't know what is really
necessery for the AGA graphics. I am not sure how to proceed with this. Can
be anything, and I don't think it's a part of the 'plain' Workbench.

It's a realy good idea... but it doesn't help. All libraries are on the
place now (only thing missing is CD device, but I don't think this can be
necessery for the AGA graphics, anyway) and it's still only 'Non-AGA'. What
now? You have some more ideas?

How to find why it's not working, when it's working? It's just standing on
the title screen 'Non-AGA'. So, I suppose it's not AGA. Maybe there should
be some picture in the background? But, doesn't really matters, as I can see
nobody wants to play this game :(

Yep, I found MegaBall 4 and I've got it working on my Amiga now. Thanks for the guidance.
