Does anyone have knowledge of how one can make DSL work with an Ami? I could hook the router I've been using for a LAN to the DSL modem and then connect Ami via the router to the DSL net, but what would that get me? I'm currently using a dial up connection using Miami. Can Miami be told to use the Ethernet connection instead... more »

Protext and Prodata to be available for free download

Since Arnor Ltd went bust, the two programmers and I have been supplying and supporting the PC versions of Protext v6.7 and its database companion Prodata v1.23 through Protext Software. We have now decided the time is right to make it (and the latest Atari and Amiga versions) available for free download, so we are doing just that.... more »

GNU tar problem

I've been using a 1998 version of Gnu tar for years and it has worked fine. Recently, it has started balking at working correctly. It's suffering from bit rot with age? The specific problem is that (almost) regardless of the file it's told to archive, it returns an error message of "<file name>: Unknown file type; file ignored."... more »
