Well it wouldn't surprise me if it were true, but we've seen many, many
false rumours of Amiga Inc's demise in the past. And I certainly
wouldn't trust any "news" that came from Merlancia!
[Let's see how long it will take now for TerryTroll to twist this into
a declaration that I have betrayed Mr. McEwen, shall we?]

merlancia.us is not Merlancia Industries.
I believe it, last I heard Amiga Inc. was operated as a home business so it
was only going to be a matter of time before they folded altogether.

Hang on, let me see what amiga.com has to say about the subject...
Hmmmm... Bill McEwen states that it's all bunk.
Now, who do we believe? The MOS camp? The Amiga CEO? They both have obvious
bias, so I choose to believe someone who has no ties to either camp. Can
anyone suggest such a site?

Do you have a password?
Gee what a stupid question. I have lots.
No, did you read the examination for discovery?
What examination and what is there to discover.
Uhh, uhhh. Sigh.
The depths of your ignorance remain unplumbed.

It goes like this, TerryTroll: I say something (anything - it doesn't
matter what). Then TerryTroll launches a vicious and malicious attack
upon me for no reason other than spite (just like you are doing now).
That's what happens when Terry goes...

Ahh, so you specifically attack me as a troll in an attempt to draw

Since the subject was you and your unplumbed depths of

Seems like the only out of control spew factory around here at

Try hooking up your Amiga and posting from it.

Oh dear, have I done something to hurt your feelings?
I don't think about you that way at all.
If you weren't such a pompous ass you would have
posted from your Amiga way back when instead of
giving off a bs "you just have to trust me" that I
still have an run an Amiga.
But no Gary, you went bonkers and started to
accuse me of being a fascist dictator who was trying
to determine who was worthy or not of posting in
comp.sys.amiga.advocacy.

There was little malicious intent, it was simple payback for
the months of having to endure your rants on fascism directed
at me in an open and public newsgroup. How could I not
take note of your sudden and completely downplayed
position about Amithlon and call you on it. Thank goodness
you came to your senses, as well as Noel, and put it
on H&P again where you had it before.

Back to your dictionary young man, there was nothing
urgent or premptory about that line. It was made in
response to your over the top potty mouthed spew, you
lost it, try and imagine me giving you some good advice,
quietly and without rancor.
As for my "demand" that people post from an Amiga,
that was along the lines of a "requirement" and was not
either premptory nor urgent which are definers of
"demand" in the form that you are using it.
Either way you chose not to do so despite assuring us
that you indeed had and used an Amiga but then you took
it much farther and claimed that this stopped you from
having any legitimacy with regard to having used an
Amiga when such was clearly not the case.
> > You reap what you sow "little man"

You're the one literally frothing with your potty mouth spew,
not me. You've followed your current path for over a year and
you cannot now say that it is simply a matter of months.

you cannot sustain a conversation for more than two iterations

everyone is against you.

Sorry, TrollBoy, but there is no such "requirement" mandated for

It is because of your endeavours to impose such a requirement that
people call you a dictatorwannabe.

As you well know, they've been online for many, many years. But
that hasn't made you any less of an infantile, low-life,

Don't need a smiley when someone is frothing over.
The contrast of simple statements says it all.

Yes there is certainly a requirement for that if you want me to
believe that you still own and use an Amiga. All the rest that comes
out of your mouth is simply so much heresay.
Do you understand that?
If you don't post from an Amiga then gee, you might know stuff
but there isn't anything to show that you actually still use one.
Unless of course you are willing to back up your words.
You aren't.
And chicken little, it was you that started that nonsense to
cover up the fact that you weren't posting from an Amiga.

There was more than adequate cause Mr. Ethical. As for the
language, I'd say you and Mr. Anonymous share far more traits
than I do according to your *evidence* and *proof*.

Nothing malicious about calling a troll on an overextended
hyperbolic rant about ethics when he reverses himself.

As usual, you are making absolutely no sense whatsoever. So please

reputation, TerryTroll. Now you are paying the price for being such
an asshole for so long, TerryTroll. Is any of this sinking in,
TerryTroll?

You already know that I do. You told me that you have been assured

And? So? What if I do? What if I don't? Does it really matter to
anybody but one tired old dictatorwannabe troll? You already
acknowledged that I "know stuff". Isn't that more important than
passing your meaningless test? [Hint: Yes, it is]

I have. You just finished acknowledging it.

Another one of your goofy conspiracy theories, TrollBoy? I have
never tried hiding it. There is absolutely zero point in me posting
from my Amiga. I am on record for stated that from the outset.

You're doing it again, Sleazebag. More lies won't hide your past
lies. The mature thing for you to do would be to apologize for this
malicious attack. So what will TerryTroll do?

Hiding behind more lies, Terry? Do you think that will endear you
in the minds of the followers of c.s.a.a? Are you beginning to see
why I and so very many other people have made fun of you here over
the years? It's quite a L-O-O-O-O-O-N-G list of people, isn't it,

No Gary, I don't, all I know is that you have done everything under

I don't have to lie about anything, it's you that revises things,
like your more powerful Amiga, that advocacy is not using or
supporting the Amiga and that there are fascist dictators lurking
everywhere to deny free speech in an open public newsgroup.

So calling me Mr. Anonymous, a fascist dictator and every name in

is malicious slander? Get a life. You gave advice that was the
equivalent of a 180 degree shift in your previous position, in

No but it seems you do. If I was assuring you then obviously you were assured.
Your choice of words, not mine.

You still haven't given me one reason, good or otherwise, to post from my Amiga.
And even when I did so (on multiple occations from multiple Amigas using a variety

Is that non-sentence supposed to have some connection with what I said in any way?
Because it doesn't. Maybe your newsreader garbled that too.

This is what it says:
slimy adj. -Consisting of or resembling slime. Covered with or exuding slime.
Vile; foul
weasel n. -A person regarded as sneaky or treacherous.
liar n. -One that tells lies.
troll n. -An individual who chronically trolls;
regularly posts specious arguments, flames or personal attacks to a
newsgroup, discussion list, or in email for no other purpose than to
annoy someone or disrupt a discussion.
honesty n. -Something that Terry Palfrey lacks in abundance.
>>What part of "You've EARNED it!!!" don't you understand?
>
> Earned?
earn v. -To acquire or deserve as a result of effort or action.
> Who's the more likely suspect, someone so out
> of control he imitates the writing style of someone universally

> or someone who only gets attacked by trolls he asks for

And that would be you as well. So the answer to "Who's the more likely suspect?"
is obviously 'TerryTroll Palfrey'. Like I said.

Gosh, what about VM? You know, the program.

Baloney, I simply showed you up for the hypocrite you are. On the

Nice misdirection, but then again what else can we expect from you.
One posting from an Amiga based newsreader with the results of
"WhichAmiga" is the bar you have to reach.
No one has denied your "past" record of having and using Amigas.
That's all in your head.
No one has denied your expertise, as far as it goes, with Amigas.
No one can take that from you.
What is at issue, and always has been since you got started on your
present troll path is simply "currency". No assurances will serve
to allay the suspicion that you no longer have or use an Amiga
until you meet the condition of posting from an Amigan newsreader
with the results of "whichamiga" included in the body of the post.
And no, the sophistry of posting through google doesn't cut it
either.
And no you don't have any obligation to do this.
But then again I don't have any obligation to believe what you
"say".

Indeed it is. That's never prevented you from doing anything BUT

1) It's a hack. All reports suggest that it is less than reliable.
2) "Spinning memory" (to use Steve's vernacular) compromises
performance very badly. Ex.: Large image 90 deg. rotation in
ImageFX using sufficient RAM ~1 minute. Same image 90 deg. rotation
in ImageFX using VM ~1 day.

What difference does it make what I do. I could walk up to you and
bash you over the head with my Amiga and you still wouldn't acknowledge
it. It doesn't suit your malicious agenda to acknowledge all of the
facts and evidence that I have been bashing you over the head with.

You are perfectly capable of making a fool of yourself without any help
from me whatsoever. We've been over this many, many times in the past.
You didn't want to acknowledge those URLs in the past and you're not
any more likely to do so now. So why should I bother? If you really
wanted to see them you could easlily look them up for yourself. But
you don't and you won't because then you would have to admit that you
have been trolling all this long time, and you will never allow that to
happen, no matter how foolish you make yourself look in the process.

available from H&P, not to mention various retailers.
How is it that you explain that anyone reading CSAA on any regular

How is it that you only accept one explanation for Sam's words and
cannot entertain an alternative such as it being a lament about the
whole sordid situation that sees H&P continue to sell Amithlon

Actually Gary you have the story backwards as usual. I use my Amiga

proportion in that I also have a Dual P133 HP Netserver, Duron 800,
Dual PIII and a PIV box running various Windows, Linux and Unix

necessary, but everybody knows that having sufficient RAM is a far
better solution. Everybody but you, that is.

In that case your sentence makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Let's break it down, shall we?
"Trust and Gary Beeton are anathema."
That is exactly equivalent to saying:
"Trust is anathema" and "Gary Beeton is anathema."
If you ignore truth and reality for a moment, I can see how you might
make a cheap insult out of the second part. But what exactly do you
mean by "Trust is anathema"??? Trust is excommunicated?? Trust is
cursed?? Perhaps you should try sticking with cheap insults
consisting of two syllables or less.

Don't listen to people. Make it work, I did that with ARP in the
old floppy days. Used a ram disk, three floppies and a meg of ram
to excellent effect. No one else was getting recoverable alerts
that worked.
I also have enough memory to serve my needs.

Here's where you begin your malicious inventions, TrollBoy. It wasn't "advise"

response to an errant statement. Why do you hate it so much when people post

There appears to be a great many things you have no clue about.

Don't recall. Seems to me I went straight to Win95 under 32MB. What
difference does it make? Win95 and 8-16MB machines are ancient
history. Things have progressed since the stone age - you should
poke your head out of your cave once in a while to see.

Because you have this irrational need to be obdurate about posting

Despite having those other systems and OS's I choose the Amiga as
my primary machine because it is so much more capable of doing what
I want it to in the way that I want it done.

Once again the power and flexibility of the english language lies
beyond the simple ken of the pointy headed troll.
No Gary, I meant anathema when referring to "trust and Gary

worthy of such confidence despite the behaviours you have regularly
demonstrated which guarantee that it is never likely to happen.
Snip and snap all you want. Anathema it is. Trusting you I mean.
What you said is "trust me", and that is anathema.

You're tired of hearing about your lack of credibility
because you won't simply prove that you still have
and use an Amiga like you claim to have.
That I question what part of Amiga advocacy not using one
represents?
That I labelled your ducking and dodging akin to
a rendition of Chicken Little when you accused me
of being a fascist dictator and anti-Amiga terrorist
over that very same test?
That I nailed your revisionism to the wall when you
changed your story several times over everything from
your Amiga expertise to how things actually happened?
That even with full expletive potty mouthed spew you
resemble Mr. Anonymous far more than I?
What next?

So, with his fingers firmly planted in his ears Gary does the troll
"LaLaLaLaLa I can't hear you" dance pretending that the stuff
he snipped doesn't really exist.
Too bad he couldn't have simply posted from his Amiga over
a year ago and not entered into a pissing contest that he has lost
badly.
Remembering that "one of the advantages of the A4K over the A3K
was ZorroIII slots"?
Harummmph!! said the Gary troll.
Terry

Gary Beeton

I, Terry, am not Gary.
Gary, you've provided a wealth of material which I'll be happy
to reproduce until you see fit to apologise for your unseemly and ill
advised tactics over the last year:
First, the basics:
"You want me to disconnect my PC's cable modem
connection, re-connect it to my Amiga, wait for my
Amiga to boot, run THOR, find your stinking post
and reply to it, all just so you can say "Oh, okay,
thanks, you pass my stupid test"?"
For the record that stupid test was for elimating those who
claimed to have and use an Amiga while running the Amiga
down in comp.sys.amiga.advocacy.
About Gary's understanding of Amigas:
"I have used an Amiga for roughly the same length of time as you. I have
a more powerful Amiga than you. I use far more complex software than
you to do far more complex tasks. Based on other discussion you have
been involved with, I am pretty confident stating that I understand the
inner workings of the Amiga far, far better than you. Now, what were
you saying about 'expertise' again?"
"My A4K/WE4040/136MB/SCSI2/PIV is a bit more powerful
than your otherwise similarly decked out A3K."
"Mine is only just a bit more powerful than yours, as I've already
stated. Nevertheless, if you consider me to have no credibility
based on my system, then you have just a little bit less."
"I have all those (or equivalents) and more. You only have an A3k
against my A4K, and you have less RAM. "
"Dude, look up. "My A4K/WE4040/136MB/SCSI2/PIV is a bit
more powerful" is a direct quote of my original post. Stop trying
to place false attribution on me."
>Remind us all again what the superiority of the A4K is over
>the A3K after adding an accelerator and a graphics card?
>Your A4KD vs my A3KT?
"ZorroIII for starters."
"Having only ever seen an A3K once, it is perhaps not too surprising
that I don't know all its features and nuances."
Now on to the Amiga bashing part of Gary's agenda:
"Yes, well, it's a bit overused when talking about Amiga hardware.
Can we just assume that if we are talking about Amiga hardware
that it IS obsolete without actually having to say it?"
Terry
Until then, continue to fuck yourself in public if you must. I can
wait.

ROTFLMAO!
> Until then, continue to fuck yourself in public if you must. I can

Well I have to admit that was a very good reply for deflecting the
Amiga knowledge that you've shared with us here in CSAA.
But enough about you, back to my personal grievances with the
treatment you have showered upon me for daring to ask you to
prove what you claimed:
"...and try to make c.s.a.a into a fascist regime by excluding everyone
who disagrees with the self-proclaimed dictators."
"No, you're postings make you out as a "fascist agent". I had nothing to
do with it."
"Perhaps. No one has ever prevented me from speaking my mind, so I've
never questioned it. I'll look into it more closely if your
must-use-an-amiga fascist regime ever takes off."
"You were trying to start a fascist state. That is
*not* what these newsgroups are for."
"You trying to become c.s.a.a Dictator-For-Life is far more comical that
sinister. Is this more of your paranoid delusions, Terry, or simply
your ego taking over again?"
"I was simply and accurately describing your behaviour. If you don't
like being called a fascist then stop acting like one."
Then all of a sudden you did an about face and said:
"Fascist dictatorwannabe. As if you really *could* make people jump
through your silly hoops. LOL!"
Go figure.
You never seemed to come up short for your fascist bent:
"Since you've proven beyond any shadow of a doubt that you have no idea
what Amiga advocacy is, your opinion means nothing."
Maybe it stems from your martyr complex:
"And how would I ever "gain your ears" if your test has already labeled
me as being a member of the lower caste and therefore not worthy of an
audience?"
All this over a simple test to determine if claimed Amiga currency was
actually true.

AOOYOWCF!! To put it in terms you seem to understand.
Once you've accepted responsibility for what you have done
in your juvenile avoidance, ie. actually proving something for
once, of the simple Amiga means test we can move on.
The messenger isn't pleased with your actions.
I can only sit in wonder and awe at the audacity you exhibit
when confronted with what you have been doing rather than
simply ending the exchange at the very beginning when your
cards were all still close to your chest instead of being
strewn over the table in plain sight.
It's your call.
But remember, even your tag team buddy Noel fired up UAe
and posted just to show he could do as he claimed and earned
my grudging respect.
You on the other hand have been unable to back up your
claims of Amiga knowledge vis a vis various machines
and their capabilities much less address the issues
around the higher end CSPPC/CVPPC/scsiUW configurations
or even the Mediator based pci enhancements.
Everyone knows that you ran an Amiga for years and used it
for the magic it embodied. You played that as if it was
a continuing "get out of jail free" card. But when it came right
down to it you have written the Amiga off yet still want to
be considered an advocate acting on the side of good.
You decide Gary, this is solely based on your actions, not
anyone else's unlike what you have thrown at me.
Grow up.

I think not Mr. Fancy Pants tag team member.
The Duron has recently been upgraded and a new install of Windows
put on it. That means that while things are present they have not been
set up like on the other windows capable boxes.
That message burst resulted from sending from the Duron box, a games
machine, because it was open and available at that moment. I'm not sure
what I did wrong if anything.

Tried that and it didn't work. Don't you remember when you held up
Qark and challenged the Amiga to do the same. We all remember
where that debate ended up or do we have to rehash it again?
Something about you using a DTP as a support item not a mainstay

The point dear sir is that while what you say may be true it is not
related in any way to what I said. You do remember the `reading for

The main and most salient point was, that while things were present
they were not set up, which to most reasonable people would mean
that OE was being used `out of the box'. It has nothing to do with

Fine, I've used most models except the A1000/A1200 fairly

it was outside my budgetary bounds and the A1200 embodied the A500
limitations with respect to the equivalent but more endowed A2000
making it a natural miss.
That would be continuous use as my main platform for over 16 years.
I ran everything from 1.2 to ARP to 1.3, 2.04, 3.1, 3.9 and NetBSD
and Debian on my Amigas as well as "Watchtower".

Unbeknownst to an outsider like yourself I actually can suss out a
lot more about this machine and its capabilities than you would
think. The basis for that machine was a WE4040/scsi2/128M running a
ZorroIII graphics card complete with an ethernet link.
What's missing is a description of his HD's - scsi or native ide.
Is that important? Another thing is the fact that he kept his MB
ram instead of removing it as everybody with a half a clue did.
Why? Didn't he know what it caused?
The software itself only indicates his uses and preferences and he
sees no use for a replacement shell like WSHell written by the same
person that gave the Amiga ARexx. Having GeekGadgets installed
also raises no envy from him or even shows that he has an awareness
of what it would mean.
>>"My A4K/WE4040/136MB/SCSI2/PIV is a bit more powerful than your

Ah, that was from a set of posts he made where he crowed about a
more powerful machine and quickly realised that he mispoke and had

The test was in place long before Mr. Beeton made his outrageous
demand that I should just "trust him".

TerryTroll doesn't think making do with 16 year old computer

TerryTroll has consistently refused to answer that question. My guess

So have fun passing tags back and forth between yourself and Noel,
at least he proved he could post from an "Amiga" that he was

TerryTroll's reply proves that my guess is correct.

change the
subject again, TrollBoy? If you ever actually *did* anything with
your Amiga you
would know that you can never have too much RAM, especially given the
lack of
page-swapping and the memory limitaions inherent in the Amiga
platform. Any other

It causes TerryTroll to invent conspiracy theories.
It also causes my system to have more memory, with the following
limitations:
1) Motherboard RAM is slower than RAM on the WarpEngine accelerator
card. However, motherboard RAM is also lower priority than WE RAM,
so it only gets used when needed (I.E. when it's run out of WE RAM).
2) Motherboard RAM is not contiguous with WE RAM. Owing to the lack
of VM in AOS, some applications require that the memory it uses be in
one contiguous block.

the question.

You may have been able to defend that argument 10 years ago. But
things have moved on since then. Big time! Sadly AOS and "current"
Amiga hardware fall way far behind today's performance/capability
curve. You'd see that if you didn't have such a stuck-in-the-past
mindset.

Really? I'm sure it is no worse than your avoidance of plugging in
your Amiga for one, single, but extremely informative post.

Depends on what you do with your computer. A 486 will still perform
more than adequately running a dos environment.

I just thought it was a funny response when you know your posts are
unarchived. Why would you let me present just my side of the story?
Any one with half a brain might use that against you and only
answer to certain parts of your posts which would give a skewed
picture of what went on.

What? That you arent' civil? That you burned your own bridge?
Still no answer to the question, eh TerryTroll? What's the matter,
are you embarrassed by how little you actually use that "preferred"
system of yours?

It's statements like that that have earned you the "stuck-in-the-
past" label.

Take one 486, add a gentoo tarball and some compile time and bingo, you've
got yourself a nice firewall/proxy. Not every machine has to be an
all-singing, all-dancing 'multimedia' powerhouse.

Yes, I'm aware of that. However, just because it is still possible to
find a use for an old 486 box that doesn't mean, as Terry was trying to
argue, that his 16 year old Amiga system is every bit as powerful and
useful as modern PC technology.

Yah, I guess we have to make do with apps instead of having a

Way. I don't work with the size of images etc. that you work with.
Something about knowing the capacity of my machine and where the
drop off is for performance over capacity.

Uh, I think that is the way the WE works, but gee I could be wrong.
After all my experience is through the A3K where motherboard ram
was the first thing removed because of incompatibilities and
general slowdowns. I just carried that forward to the A4K and found
no one in disagreement with that principle because they had removed
it as well as soon as they mounted an accelerator.

Well since you are so fired certain that I need a max amount of
memory, I actually did something about it.

Actually Gary I do, others have demanded that AOS have all sorts of
things included in it to be a proper OS, I on the other hand like
the unix model of many small tools joining together to accomplish
larger tasks. Arexx and WShell are the glue for that and
GeekGadgets is a toolchest.

He's already admitted to what he used his Amiga for. He has clearly
stated what he thinks of Amigas in comparison to his Dell PC. And
if he doesn't want to make the effort to prove that he still has a
working Amiga that's on his own hook. But, I'll be double dipped if
I have to allow him any credibility about his statements.
Simple cause and effect as Gary is so fond of pointing out.
And if you get one of those tricked out 486's that cost thousands
back when, you can also set up a nice dos based environment to play
my favourite game, "Z".
