Another piece of good news, and for all you gamers and nostalgia buffs
Natami is also getting closer.

Yes - it is interesting to see development continuing. It's a bit of a
bizarre situation though as:

1. You cannot buy any hardware for the product therefore sales will be
muted.
2. The court case is still ongoing and Hyperion may yet loose therefore
ending the last remnants of the Amiga and making it all pointless anyway.
3. There still needs be some hope of reinvestment in the platform as
there is simply no modern software left to run. You can probably still
get by with software from the past but as a new platform for people to
return to the Amiga badly needs modern software both business and games.
Hopefully Hyperion have some way of building this back up.

Unfortunately that would require some promise of return on investment,
but the user base - both existing and potential - is just too tiny.

Yes - it would require either a multi-millionaire eccentric or a small
team just willing to get by on scraps for a nostalgic hobbyist OS that
will only sell to a handful of users.

What mystifies me is that there is a team that is (I can only sensibly
guess) being paid to do this. So maybe we have an eccentric somewhere in
the chain at least. :)

Terry,

whilst only chuckling, it is satisfying when things go right.

PS. Beeton Troll, I have seen and touched 4.1 already.
PPS. I'm probably going to sell my AmigaOne Micro.

Why? Was 4.1 that bad?

No, in fact 4.1 is very good. I love it. With all the new features it
is very nice up to date Operating System. Things I was lacking in OS
4.0 are present now - workbench listers, easy internet configuration,
3D menus. With OWB now I have no problems using online banking and
google maps. With FTPMount I can easily manage FTP servers, and I am
still Amiga only, while working for a big international company with
several billion euros turnover. Replacing mAmigaOne with SAM board
have some advances like smaller board, 64MB onboard graphics memory,
and it is newer hardware than the AmigaOne.

Which doesn't involve using your Amiga for anything productive and so is
completely irrelevant.

Replacing mAmigaOne with SAM board

Which is not nearly enough to do anything useful with not to mention that
although you speak as if it is already available it is in actual fact still
vapour.

A good number of people have been running SAM's for some time now.
What hasn't been available is OS4. Now, with the release of OS4.1 you
can purchase both as 4.1 runs on the SAM. That is a well documented
fact not a vapourous pre-announcement.

For the slow witted - once again - NEW HARDWARE is AVAILABLE for
the PPC AMIGAOS release 4.1.

For years and years you have been slamming PCs by claiming that Amigas
didn't need all those resources. I find it curious that the instant any
Amiga upgrade has become available you have leapt at the chance to pay
top dollar for more and more RAM and processor power. For a system
which you claim doesn't need it. Gosh, who would have guessed that all
of your Windows bashing over the years has been rooted entirely on jealousy!

Hm, I guess I'm way out of date. I still have an original Amiga 1000
hacked to run Kickstart 2.0 ROMs. 2.5 MB RAM, 80 MB external HD,
original 1080 monitor. I can't believe have owned it for over 20
years! It was a useful computer (for me) up into the early 21st
century. It taught me C++ programming of real-time applications in
a multitasking environment.

I haven't fired it up in over a year, and I doubt anyone would want
to buy it. It's difficult to throw out such a classic, though.

Dunno about that, it could fetch a reasonable price on Ebay... but you might
regret getting rid of it later on.
