Precompiled GPL SharedCLibrary?
Hi, I'm messing about with getting RO applications to run on ROLF, again. I don't want to have anything to do with RISC OS source code, but all the modules provided on the ROOL website are squeezed using a propriatory algorithm. There is, however, a application called SqzUnSqz that is freely available and contains the program unmodsqz that I could use to unsqueeze... more »

That peskey 256 byte limit
Hello all and a Happy New Year I am in the process on converting a Free Basic programme to BBC Basic. Unfortunately I have run into BBC Basic's 256 character string limit which Free Basic doesn't have. Does anyone have any clever tips or useful tools to ease my frustration. Unfortunately the variable causing the problem is... more »

Dynamic areas: meaning of "bufferable"?
What does "area is bufferable" mean in the context of a RISC OS Dynamic Area? I understand cacheable, but not bufferable. Dave

BBC BASIC for Windows version 5.91a released
I'm pleased to announce the release of BBC BASIC for Windows version 5.91a. This update includes the following new features: * RESTORE LOCAL, TRACE STEP ON|OFF, ON ERROR LOCAL OFF * Fewer restrictions in the use of continuation lines * Improvements to benefit the assembly-language programmer If you already have the full version of BBC BASIC for Windows you can... more »

DDT and DeskDebug
In my opinion many of the correspondants on this topic are doing RISCOS a grave disservice by asking for the moon. If any new programs are to emerge new talent us needed which in turn will need a straightforward development environment which works over the range of new RISC OS hardware. What is not needed is a stalling of any updating of... more »

Organiser and Alarm thinks its 2012
...[snip some examples of changes that do and don't cause the Iyonix date to jump forward two years after a reboot] ... ... ...I was fiddling with the time before reading csa* - TBH, I'm a little surprised nobody had similarly experimented and posted results. *After* posting, I had a few more little tinkles... um, and I also played... more »

GCC library generation
I haven't started with it yet, but the new release is at the least encouraging for a 'would be' like myself. It sounds like I will be able to make an independant binary for RISC OS, but where there is a normally dependant library installed (linux), where does it leave me if the library isn't included in RISC OS !GCC.... more »

Spindly text
I'm redrawing a window with spindly text. I swear that this same code worked earlier today... Partial screen shot is at [link] (roughly 320 KB, containing a ~2 MB sprite) which shows one window where the text is fine and one where it's not. The window in question is not auto-redraw. Its work background colour... more »

New year, new language - Tcl/Tk
Ok, so Tcl/Tk hasn't been the height of fashion in programming for about 15 years, but it's something I've wanted a port of for a long time for no particular reason. Due to other work, it now seems to mostly work (still a bit rough), although it has no RISC OS customization whatsoever, and the port itself has fixed a few things which might help... more »

Missing PRM pages.
My PDF PRM's are missing the chapter "Interrupts and how to handle them" page 1 - 119. Is there anywhere I can download or get the omission from? I could really do with them. Thanking you in advance, Matt
