John Williams (News)
My ISP has kindly furnished me with a fixed IP address. My Iyonix on my
network is running WebJames to serve a local network index page.
What do I need to do to get this to be seen from the fixed IP address?
Obviously I don't know what I'm doing, so be gentle.

Assuming you're using a router, then it is this that will get the fixed
IP address in most cases. If you configure your router such that port
80 gets directed through to your Iyonix, then it should just work from
outside your home network.
It all depends quite a lot on your ISP, how your network is set up, and
what router you have, unfortunately.

You need to log into your router, and find the page for "port forwarding".
Configure it so that port 80 is forwarded to the IP address for your Iyonix
(*not* the new, static address given by your IP - that's the address of the
router, as seen from the outside world).
You might also want to ensure the Iyonix *always* has the same IP address -
this should be possible from within the router configuration as well.

Both in place and checked but no joy. I think I need advice now from
someone with WebJames set up as a HTTP server.
I know there is at least one, but can't remember any names.

It is working, John - I put your IP address into my web browser and left it
while I started to type a reply along the lines of "I have it set up..."
with various suggestions of what you could look at. By the time I'd finished
my initial suggestions, your "Network Index Page" was displayed - it was
slow, but it appeared.
I suspect the reason you don't think it's working is because when testing,
you are entering your static IP address into the web browser address bars -
ie 62.147.135.247. However, that's only likely to work from *outside* of
your network. Inside your network, you must use the IP address of the
computer running WebJames.

FWIW I tried it just now and it was fine - no delay. You must have tried
when the RPC was busy.
