I've had a working local network for some time, consisting of
Broadband modem/router (Bt ? with 4 wired ports and wireless)
RISC PC - SA/RISC OS Adjust 4.39 with 96+2mb
NSB ex Maplin
Printserver (a) Linksys USB + Parallel
Printserver (b) Belkin wireless For All in 1 Printer/Scanner

I'm getting an increasing incidence of network failure from the RPC where
it will suddenly decide it can't resolve any address - local or remote.
Trying to ping any device on the local network gives the message

"Too many open files"

The network is really still working since if I go to the PC and ping any
address, including the RPC, all appears in order. So, somewhere, some
how, the RPC has got its knickers in a twist. A reboot restores normal
operation but doesn't help diagnose what is causing the problem. I assume
that the error message doesn't reflect the real problem.

The *exinfo does not reveal any clues - to me, at least, but I'll append
the task window results, just in case they are helpful.

Note: windows pc can ping all with no problem.
UNIpod network controller unused as it died some time ago

If anyone can suggest what the cause might be, or ideas that might give
useful diagnostic information, I'd very grateful.

Cheers,

Steve
