Hi there

I have a Mac mini with OS X 10.6.1, to which is connected a Canon
PIXMA IP4600 printer. I also have a StrongARM RISCPC, RO 4.37. They
are connected via a wireless network.

What is the best (and cheapest) way to print from the RISCPC to the
Canon Printer? Getting USB for the RISC PC os not an option, its too
expensive. I already have the latest version of Gutenprint, which
supports the IP4600 printer.

Any ideas appreciated!

We do drivers for many Canon Pixma printers including the iP4300
unfortunatly Canon broke support for one method of graphics printing in the
iP4400 (Black & one colour graphics worked but the other two colours printed
garbage) Support was still listed in the developer documentation, but
Canon never responded sensibly to my queries and according to a test an
ip4600 owner tried for me, all RISC OS conpatible graphic support has now
been dropped, It will still print in text mode e.g. from !Edit.

There may be Gutenprint support but whilst Photos come out well it is slow
even for a black only letter.

Dont you have a CUPS printing system on the Mac?
Surely it would just be a matter of sharing the printer and using
JetDirectFS on RISC OS.
On Linux, CUPS has a webpage for admin, http://<localhost>:631 I imagine
it would be the same on Mac.
To admin from RISC OS, Firefox was the only browser that could
authenticate fully with my Linux CUPS.

Yes you can view the pages, but to make printer setting changes
involving username and password, you may need Firefox.
