Iyo 5.16

Suddenly I have a new window pop-up when I want to process a folder.
For instance:
I want to delete a folder: I hi-light it and choose Filer dir
'ItsName' - Delete . I now get a pop-up titled 'Deleting files' with a
string of 4 choices, Abort, No, Yes and Quiet.

I am used to the delete operation just happening!

What have I done and how do I return to the 'Instant Operation'?

Thanks, but.........

Confirm is unticked but both verbose and newer are ticked as is make
file operations multitask.

I suppose I could untick verbose and newer?
But I dont ever recall going into this Filer area.
I wonder if there is a keyboard shortcut which I might have
inadvertently fallen foul of?

Strange.

After sending my earlier reply and closing the Configure Filer window,
I created a dummy file and deleted it without being prompted - and I
never made any changes, honest!!!!!

Iyo seems to have reverted to normal after the gremlin left the box!

Oh well.

Thanks though if only for the pointer to look inside the Confihgure
Filer folder.

Has it occurred to nobody to check the 'Options' submenu, accessible
from any Filer window? At some stage ChrisF ticked "Confirm deletes"
(and, apparently, doesn't remember doing it).

The Configure strangeness appears to be a bug; opening the Filer plugin
with 'Confirm all' unticked but 'Confirm deletes' ticked, for some
reason, fails to cause the 'Confirm' option button to be ticked -
although the 'Only deletes' radio button immediately to its right is
checked. When clicking 'Set', it then re-interprets its own
misinterpreted data and finds that 'Confirm' is unticked, therefore
neither deletes nor other operations should be subject to confirmation.

Thus the window fails the most basic test of any Configure plugin, which
is to say that the translation between options data and the dialogue box
should be 100% reversible. Somebody running a more recent version of
RO5 than I should test that and, if necessary, report it to ROOL.

Should it be reversible, though? I expect the Configure options to be
in place when I start the machine, but during a session I may want to
do things differently, and use the Filer menu options to change the
settings temporarily, knowing that the "normal" settings will be there
again after the next start-up / reset. Is that not the designed
behaviour, rather than making all changes presistent, whether set from
Configure or the Filer menu?

In Draw, Edit, etc, changing settings from the menu does not amend the
Draw$Options, etc, applied in the boot sequence, so the principle that
menu-settings are temporary but Configure/!Boot settings persistent
seems a reasonably consistent approach.

From brief testing, Filer menu does not seem to affect Configure/Filer
in 5.19 (as of 12 Feb 2013, on RPCemu), but that does not strike me as
a failure..

...Yes?

You've misunderstood. The 'Confirm deletes' option is very much
persistent (at least, my computer starts up with it enabled every time),
but the Configure plugin fails to deal with it properly. That is not at
all the same thing as what you said.
