Does anybody happen to have a high-resolution version of the icon
that is used to represent a Jpeg file (c85), please?

I mean the one that looks like an eye, which is used in OS 4 (maybe
also OS 6; can't remember about OS 3), not the altogether different
one that came with OS 5.

Thanks.

Yes. Or do I?

I have the eye icon - what resolution is high, and where is it stored?

It's the one I currently use for news postings. As the sig line says,
I'll change it if it begins to attracts spam.

I want to use it in print, so need a lot more than the standard 34x34
pixels, which is what is provided within various apps such as David
Pilling's !Scan.

Okay, so where will my high resolution eye icon be stored?

I think the only source for such a file would be from the people who had
designed the icon, assuming that they started with a photograph of an eye,
rather than designing it at 34 x 34 pixel size by editing it pixel by pixel.

An ordinary RISC OS 3 or 4 user won't have a high resolution (i.e. about 120
x 120 or more) image of this icon on the machine.

Yes, that's what I thought from the outset. Was hoping there might be
a chance of such a person reading this newsgroup. (Thanks anyway,
Felicity.)

So far the oldest date I've seen on a !Sprites file containing the
"eye" icon for filetype Jpeg (&c85) is 1992, inside !ImageFS.
Around the same time John Kortink's !Translator used a completely
different file_c85 icon that looked like a red and yellow explosion.
The Iyonix (Ro 5) has a totally different icon, anodyne by comparison.

I'll email the folks who did ImageFS.

Ahah, so *that's* where my eye icon is stored!

Ooh, it's not even 34 x 34, but 34 x 17. :(

Unless you live in Italy where the North/South divide is the other way
around. ;-)
