Going left inside the door.
******
A stand showing - Wiki RISC OS info - and requesting people to update
and check the info.
******
Next the Orpheus Internet stand.
******
One of the RO clubs.
******
Stand showing a 'BeagleBoard' driving a 30inch DELL Lcd monitor (R-Comp
MDF) - plus 'Beagle' playing music files - some interesting ideas on
sound output.

The quite narrow monitor was running 1920x1200 16M F29 9000K screen
memory.
******
Next the author of 'Cash Book' etc.
******
CJE stand - how do 'they' fit in the car - after loading the goods?

A 24inch Samsung monitor running just 2048 by 1152 - driven by 'Iyonix'

A blue 'A9'

Second hand 'Iyonix's' for sale.

Various ideas for leads/boxes/power suppies for the forth-coming RPie.
******
Next standa large wooden bell tower - showing how to do bell ringing -
powered by BBC?
******
The ROOL stand - various 'Beagleboards' - in clear case - Motherboard

the 'Iyonix' graphics card.

Three different versions of USB stick - RPCEmu/Beagle rom/ROOL

'RPie' info - but no boards - needed for BBC broadcast program.
'RPie' board is supposed to have better graphics than the 'Beagle' -

******
MW stand - Artworks - Postscript3 - EasiWrite.

There were plenty of people with cameras, so hopefully in time...

ROUGOL, represented by Bryan Hogan and Keith Dunlop.

Keith Dunlop again. He was also demoing MusicMan 2 from R-Comp.

RiscPC, I think, although there was a Beeb on the stand as well. The
software is Stringing, by John Norris:

http://www.jrnorris.co.uk/

It seems that if you want your own bell tower, they can be purchased...

USB and SD drivers. So it basically struggles with IO. Which, as they
pointed out, is kind-of fundamental... Once more boards become available
for developers to use, work on the RISC OS port is likely to speed up.

And, on which note, the first batch of Model Bs were in China and ready to
ship within days, apparently.

Next to Archive was Chris Johnson, who was talking about his software, the
software that he has adopted from David Pilling, and about turning Archive
into HTML for the DVD.

R-Comp sell FireWorkz Pro; the freeware one is FireWorkz. The difference,
IIRC, is the database capability.

And the Beagleboard CMOS widget was available on several stands, too -- for
use with RISC OS 5.18.

> Hope I haven't missed out anyone - nice to put faces to people's names.

Indeed. It was a long journey for me, but it was good to put faces to names
of a few people who I've not met at other shows.

Thanks to Richard and Andrew (plus anyone else who was involved) for
stepping in at the last minute and taking the show off RISCOS Ltd's hands to
ensure that it happened.

The only complaint was that, on the few occasions I got to see outside, it
was clearly far too nice a day to be stuck in a room with no windows... ;-)

Further info on this would be welcome. I noticed that Andrew also mentioned
sound in his recent comp.sys.acorn.announce posting about ARMini and the
show.

I've put uploaded a report of the show on the RISC OS Blog -
http://www.riscosblog.co.uk - no pictures from the show as of yet, but
I did see a few with cameras wandering around yesterday, so some will
turn up.

I don't think I'd even got home by the time you sent this question! :)

I see Sion's replied to say he's posted a report to the RISC OS Blog, and I
wrote one up this afternoon and posted it to RISCOSitory.com:
http://www.riscository.com/2012/long-live-the-south-west-show/

I think between the two of us we've pretty much covered everything.

I didn't take any photos myself, but amongst those taking pictures, I
noticed Steve Revill taking a few - so I imagine some will be appearing at
some point at http://www.riscosopen.org/photos/

Yup! but it's the pictures I want to see.

My thoughts too, both on arriving and leaving. I guess overcast with
occasional drizzle may be the ideal conditions for not keeping
visitors away. Never mind.

Anyway, I thought it was a fun show. +1 for thanks to Richard, Andrew,
WAUG and anyone else involved in rescuing it.

We'll get them onto the site in the next couple of days.

I didn't take all that many in the end because the only time I could take
pics was when people were doing talks so I didn't want to take pics of empty
stands and give a false impression of what the show was like.

Even the exhibitors were going over to listen to the talks which, unlike
most shows, were held at the exhibitor's stand.

I'm not even bothering. I'll pick one up next month maybe, once all
the chaos has subsided. But hey, even though it has been a manic day
for those guys, I bet they're pretty pleased with the reception it
has had.

Best wishes,

Rick.

PS: I eyeballed the released datasheet. Did I miss something or was
there no documentation on graphics capability? I get that GPU is all
super-secret, but surely the chip has at least a dumb framebuffer?

I just hope it gets the support and encouragement from the media it
deserves.

Remember all the books and magazines for the BEEB?

The how to program articles, the listings we all typed in, learning about
programming and debugging in the process?

The TV programmes?

If the BBC were to do similar for the RasberryPi it would go a long way to
fulfilling the object of the exercise.

I will almost certainly buy one when the funds are available but I'm going
to need a few tutorials and books to get me going.

I tried from 8am till 3pm on the Farnell site, probably 20-30
attempts.

Suddenly to my amazement I was in the shop so quickly scurried through
with my basket of goodies (make that goody, 1 only per customer).

About 10 minutes later I received an email telling me the pi would be
despatched week starting 16 April (this year)

You have us all intrigued now! Can we have a photo of what we missed?

I'm still trying to find out when we can order in quantity!

You can put 10 in your basket and click to place the order, the automatic
acknowledment email says 10 but you then get a PDF confirmation that says
one a few hours latter.

If I might add a note. Thanks very much to Andrew and Richard and all the

notable for the spirit openness and cooperation that RISC OS has needed
for so very long.
