I'm using a USB pen drive to swap files between my Iyonix and my PC.

Not always, but quite often, the Iyo reports "Ambiguous disc name"
when it gets the pen back in after having seen it before but it's been
to the PC inbetween. It won't then show me the pen's contents.

I do routinely go menu-dismount between swaps but it doesn't prevent
this message appearing.

Is there anything less drastic than a re-boot to cure it, please?

You need to do this twice to make it effective. Sad but true - easy to
acquire the habit, though!

Best wishes,

This is well known - the Iyonix doesn't seem to dismount the card/pen
drive correctly.

The first thing to try is to dismount the card/pen drive *twice*
before removing it.

If this doesn't work, and you still get the ambiguous name when
putting it in again go to the command line (F12) or task window
(Ctrl-F12) and enter

rmreinit scsifs

The card should then mount normally.

You can always make an obey file with the above command and call it
something simpler, or set up an alias$variable if you are needing to
enter the command a lot.
