Having brought my A440 back from Retro Fusion, I've discovered that at
some point the keyboard plug has slightly melted and the machine won't
boot with the keyboard plugged in anymore. No keyboard - machine boots
up fine, but obviously can't be used. Keyboard - case fan starts up
and that's it. If I plug the keyboard in after booting the machine
then everything goes dead.
I'm assuming that a fuse has gone somewhere, but where? I suspect I
will have to replace the keyboard or the mainboard, but hopefully not
both!

I would not expect that behaviour from a blown fuse.
It sounds like the keyboard plug has been damaged and is shorting out.
(Is there a reset line on these keyboards? If there were and that were
grounded, that would fit the symptoms.)
If you are lucky, then replacing the plug would be a solution (though
finding out the correct connections may be "fun").
Presumably you have no access to a spare keyboard to try.

That sounds about right. I've been able to try the keyboard on another
Arc now and it has similar problems.

Well I've ordered a plug now, so let's see how I get on with that!
