Cheers,
Gerald.
Doesn't expand what you said much, but:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Repton_%28video_game%29#Repton_ports_and_clones
Repton 1 + 2 were released together on the Spectrum called Repton
Mania, I think they were identical to the BBC version pretty much
Repton 3 was released on the Commodore 64, and despite being
advertised for the Amstrad it was never released.
Plus there was the Archimedes Repton 3 and various other RISC OS
incarnations along the way including Repton 1 + 2.
Plenty of Repton info can be found here

I think that advert also mentioned a port to the ST. Luckily I still
have a stack of old Acorn mags so I'll see if I can find it.

To the world you are somebody, but to somebody you are the world.
Yep, so just BBC/Electron/ZX Spectrum Repton and Repton 2,
BBC/Electron/Archimedes/Commodore 64 for Repton 3, BBC/Electron for Repton
Infinity and Archimedes for Repton 4 (not including the PC versions).
Next question, does anyone have the editor codes for the Commodore 64
version of Repton 3? (yes, they are different to the BBC/Electron ones).
Cheers,
Gerald.
We have some 1992 RISC OS copies in stock Intitled:
Repton 3 four game compilation
Repton 3
The Life of Reptom
Reptom Thru Time
& Around the world in forty screens
It actually played after a fassion on a StrongARM RPC + AKF85
though the display only occupied the top half of the screen and aletrnate
lines were in the left and right half.
I suspect a 15KHz monitor or TV would have worked fine.

According to our database we should also have a Repton 4 Ego

We also have an electron cassette version in stock

The most beautiful thing anyone can wear, is a smile!
Can't find any information on the ST version, not even a small mention
somewhere.
I seem to have a copy of nearly every version then:
Repton 1 : BBC/Windows - still to get Desktop Repton and am working on
getting an Elk and a speccy emulator working
Repton 2 : BBC/Windows - still to get Desktop Repton and am working on
getting an Elk and a speccy emulator working
Repton 3 : BBC/Archimedes/Windows - got C64 version, but only Prelude
screens, and still to get Desktop Repton
Repton Infinity : BBC - working on getting an Elk emulator working
EGO: Repton 4: RiscOS
It's all for research for my website, The Repton Resource Page at

I see Richard Hanson has taken Repton files created and donated freely
by emulation or legacy kit users from the Repton Continuum page and
converted them for PC Repton 3. Will he or yourself convert the PC
Repton levels for the substantial number of Acorn emulation users to
enjoy?

He may not have the tools. I only asked him about converting to PC Repton 3.
The files on the Repton Continuum can be run on BBC Repton 3. This can be
run under emulation - in fact, the files on the Repton Continuum are either
a zip file (with inf files for emulation) or a ssd file (for emulation).
Shouldn't be a problem to get them into a BBC emulator on RiscOS.

Can you convert the maps to original format?

That's the point of the website.

Sorry - I originally mis-read the post.
I shall ask whether those new files can be made available for the BBC Repton
3 users. Can't imagine it'll be a positive response though.
Cheers,
Gerald.
As I thought, Richard cannot converted them from PC to BBC. However, there
are a couple of ways of doing this. Firstly, someone could go through each
map (as supplied on the Repton Resource Page) and manually create them in
the BBC Editor. The second way is that someone (I was actually thinking of
doing this) could write a utility to do such a conversion - problem is, I
don't know the file formats.

Manually creating them is one option but certainly not for all the new
levels. If there are any which really stand out what would you
recommend? Superior will know of the PC file formats or who to contact
and there's definitely people on STH who can convert them. It's not
like the BBC users will be getting any of the graphics etc of the PC
version, just the level design.
