Theora Video Codec for ARM (BeagleBoard) not yet RISC OS.

A little birdie tells me they've ported the video codec 'Theora' to ARM (the
beagle board to be more specific) whilst it currently is running under Linux
they see no reason why it coudn't be made to run under RISC OS. It has/will
be released under a non restrictive licence!

I gather Theora is supposed to be the next big thing in Video formats, I
wonder which RISC OS hardware will be fast enough?

Right now the BeagleBoard has to be the only possibility:

- the ARM CPU can almost cope with MPEG, whereas even the
Iyonix's CPU can't;

- there is a DSP too, which just cries out to be used for this sort
of application.

I've now seen that http://www.iconbar.co.uk have much more information on
this.

ARMv4 or higher is required, which RISC OS machines are ARMv4?

ARMv4 starts at the StrongARM range. The Iyonix is ARMv5, and the
Beagleboard is ARMv7. There was such a large gap in RISC OS hardware
becoming available that we missed ARMv6 altogether.

Dig a little deeper and you find that Robin Watts and Pinknoise
Productions have been working on it, with funding from Google:
