The next meeting of the RISC OS User Group of London (ROUGOL) will be:

The UNIX Porting Project (plus Linux for the Iyonix and more)
presented by Peter Naulls

Monday 15th September 2003, 19:30 for a 19:45 start

The Blue-Eyed Maid (upstairs)
173 Borough High Street
London SE1 1HR

The UNIX Porting Project aims to convert UNIX software to run under RISC
OS. All of the software is freely available once converted. However, by
subscribing to the project you receive support via email, can suggest
software you would like to see converted, and support further
developments. (For more info see http://www.chocky.org/unix/ ).

Peter will be demonstrating some of the many pieces of software already
available through the project, as well as talking about what's involved in
the conversion process, how both developers and ordinary users can help,
and what's planned for the future. We're hoping that he will also be able
to show his port of Linux to the Iyonix, as well as bringing along CDs of
both projects to sell.

A few ROUGOL members should be at the venue from about 6pm, and probably
until as late as 11pm. Admittance is free, everyone is welcome, and the
venue will have all its usual very wide range of drinks and food.

The venue is between London Bridge and Borough tube stations, so readily
accessible by public transport. It is *within* London's Congestion
Charging zone, however congestion charging ends at 6:30pm (and our meeting
starts much later!)

Do join us, find out what's new, and participate in the "high street
presence" of RISC OS in London.
