MW Software Press Release 12-Nov-11

A new version of the EasiWriter family of structured word processors
with MS Word compatibility was released at this year's London Show at
the end of October. Easi/TechWriter 9.00 offers cross-references and
improved foreign file format support.

New features in Easi/TechWriter 9.00
====================================

Cross-references
----------------
In structured documents it is common to have references from one place
in the text to other places, for instance:

See also section 5.2 "Advanced topics" on page 75.
According to figure 5 on page 17, ...

Keeping this information up to date can be time-consuming or even next
to impossible in large documents. As text is added or removed, page
numbers change all the time; as sections are added or removed, their
numbering changes; and even just editing a section title requires all
places elsewhere in the document that quote this title to be updated.

Version 9.00 introduces an automatic way of keeping such references up
to date. It allows you to insert cross-references to other locations
in the document, which can display either the target item‘s chapter or
section number, part of a paragraph, a complete paragraph (usually
that of a heading) or the number of the page on which it occurs.

Cross-references can optionally act as hyperlinks as well, so they
become clickable links when the document is exported as a Word, HTML
or PDF file.

Cross-references are imported/exported to/from MS Word .doc format and
imported from .docx format.

Improved foreign file format support
------------------------------------
Files in ODT format (OpenOffice.org's native format) can be imported
with style information, which is a big improvement compared to the
plain text import offered by version 8.9.

Hyperlinks can finally be exported to MS Word .doc format.

About Easi/TechWriter
=====================
EasiWriter is a structured word processor that is ideally suited to
writing structured documents like essays, reports or user manuals. In
addition to its unique structured approach it offers advanced word
processing features like footnotes, automatic chapter or section
titles in headers/footers, in-built table support with tables that can
flow across several columns or pages, comprehensive indexing,
automatic content generation, hyperlinks within the document or to
external URLs, and much more.

Its comprehensive support for foreign file formats, most notably its
ability to read and write MS Word .doc (and .rtf) files make
EasiWriter an indispensable tool for many RISC OS users. EasiWriter
also supports the new .docx format introduced with Word 2003 and the
.odt format used by OpenOffice.org.

TechWriter offers mathematical typesetting capabilities on top of the
host of features present in EasiWriter, making it the ideal choice for
technical specifications, textbooks and scientific papers.
