R-Comp / RCI are pleased to announce that we'll have our range of
Network Attached drives on show/available at the London show this
weekend, accompanied by a new release of our popular SafeStore 2
backup software.

Since we introduced RISC OS friendly Network Attached Storage (NAS)
drives to the market, what, maybe 4 years ago (one loses track of
time!) we have been firm advocates of having your bulk storage
separate to your computer, allowing it to be accessed from any
computer you own, regardless of which happens to be turned on at the
time. We've always promoted branded units, which benefit from support
and firmware updates, since NAS devices are actually little computers
(often ARM-powered).

We offer single drive NAS units which are ideal for Backup purposes
(typically 1Tb in size, due to how quickly hard drives have grown) at
very affordable prices. Alternatively you can choose to have a 2 (or
more!) disc unit with the second disc running as a "mirror" of the
first, for data security. This latter approach is more suitable if
you're going to store un-backed-up data, or critical backups. Of
course, our NAS drives also do additional features such as making your
Photos, music or videos available via network streaming (for example,
a modern TV from a top brand like Panasonic, Sony or Samsung can
access photos directly, allowing you to show your pictures on your
TV).

Our range can be supplied with/without a bundle with our SafeStore 2
backup software.

SafeStore 2.05 will be launched at the show with upgrades to existing
customers shortly before/after. This new version once copes with a
multitude of different/unexpected issues that can occur when backing
up to foreign systems (eg. you cannot copy files with certain special
filenames to a Windows PC). This continues to make SafeStore the most
intelligent RISC OS backup system, thanks to its knowledge of the
quirks of different systems, and its flexibility. Needless to say, a
few problems have also been fixed along the way.
