more bells and whistles than a large building containing a sizeable
number of bells and whistles, has been updated yet again.
The new release is primarily of interest to those using RISC OS 4/6 and
not using the ChangeFSI feature, because the only change is a radical
optimisation of the ImageFileConvert handling, which is more than twice
as fast as the previous version. Speed improvements are even more
marked on images without masks or with masks disabled.
If the above doesn't apply to you, then, well, download it anyway
because it's new and shiny and says 'August 2010' on it and everybody
knows updates (even useless ones) are a Good Thing to Have.
MBBack (spelt with two Bs, no matter what Archive would have you
believe) is a program which takes a list of backdrops or directories
containing backdrops (for which certain files may optionally be treated
differently from the rest) and displays one on the Pinboard every time
you run it. The backdrop may be chosen at random or simply the first
one on the list, and there is an option to never choose the same
backdrop again until the entire list has been exhausted. Backdrops may
be converted to the current screen mode and resized according to DPI,
and can be scaled to completely cover the Pinboard (without distorting
the aspect ratio, unlike the Pinboard's 'Scaled' option). There is a
