Soft Rock Software is pleased to be able to announce the release of a
beta version of the long awaited 32bit WebChange, which is now called
WebChange Pro.
This is available to anyone who purchased one of the older versions,
and can be downloaded from the users page at:
http://www.webchange.co.uk/ru/
You will need your username and password to access the download, as
used to download updates in the past. If you can't remember your
access details, or those you have no longer work, please let me know
so that I can investigate. (If possible, give me as much information
about when you purchased the software, such as when and where, and
what email address you might have been using).
The version being made available is the version that was demonstrated
at Wakefield. For details of the current status of WebChange Pro (what
has been done, what is still to do, etc) please refer to the following
message sent to the support mailing list:
http://riscository.co.uk/pipermail/webchange-list_riscository.co.uk/2008-April/000003.html
There are some additional notes on the download page, given above.
WebChange Pro is a website maintenance tool for RISC OS computers.
Designed for use by those with a preference for using a text editor
for their work, WebChange Pro can be used to carry out a number of
repetitive tasks on the local copy of the site, to make such tasks
easier and quicker. Features include:
* Search and replace through all the text/mark up files in your
website directory. Searches can be wildcarded, contextual,
alternating, and the search strings can be sourced from other
files.
* Read datestamps, and file sizes of specified files, and have this
information automatically inserted in your markup, so you can show
visitors the size of a file before it's downloaded, or when a
particular page was last updated.
* Read the contents of another file and, if it has changed since the
last time this was done, insert it in your markup, effectively
giving you a 'template' facility for parts of your web pages - for
example, a standard 'footer' section.
* And much more.
WebChange Pro is not yet available to purchase.
Proprietor of Soft Rock Software, and writer of WebChange Pro, Vince
Hudd said "Aaaaaargh!" when he heard the drum roll that marked this
long awaited announcement, and ran away as fast as he could thinking
there were cannibals coming and that he might have been on the menu.
