Saving variable view contents
Hi! I have a simple question: how do I export the whole content of variable view to a tab delimited file? I can export all my data, but what about variable view? I'd like to save all the contents, value labels included... saving to a file from the view doesn't do the job... Thanks!

coding variables by dates?
hi folks, I have a dataset with about 3000 observations on 30 participants (they responded to short questionnaires about 3-6x/day for 2 weeks). I'm trying to classify the days as "binge-eating" or "non-binge-eating" days but I can't figure out if there is a way to do this with syntax, or if I will manually have to enter this info.... more »

Incremental Contribution to Regression of Correlated Dichotomous Variables
I have a dataset where Gold Standard Diagnosis (Y/N) is known for each patient in the set. Then there also are three tests (T1-T3, also Y/N) that are trying to match the Gold Standard. This is a a case of four correlated non-independent dichotomous variables. When taken two at a time, I can use McNewmar test to assess the relationship and compute... more »

Stepwise Regression
If an independent is not univariately significant at 0.20 level, but significant at 0.05 level in the final model. Should we include it in the final model? Suppose we don't have collinearitty and all other things are fine, without any other problem.

SPSS commands for making some computations
Hi all, I have an SPSS datafile. I want to get the number of cases that take the value 1 for one variable and the value 2 for the other variable . Afterwards i need to divide the result "the number of cases satisfying both conditions" by the total number of cases taking the value 1 in variable 1. I want to get the final result "the proportion" written to... more »

computing the average for several variables displayed in columns
Hi all, I want to write a syntax to compute a group of indices. Each index is a result of dividing 2 numbers. Each number is the average of a variable. My variables are displayed in columns in an spss datafile. i have so many variables and i need to compute so many indices. The question is , how can I write a syntax, so that this syntax:... more »

spss matrix output in pivot table
Hi all, I wrote a macro that returns values from computations that were conducted in MATRIX. I was wondering if there is any way to put the matrix output into a pivot table to make it look nice, instead of doing something like print/title = " RESULTS OF FIRST RUN". and then put some matrix output underneath.... more »

Understanding/Interpreting simple effects?
Hi guys, I've got a bit of a quandary I was hoping someone could help with. I'm a psychology masters student, and for a trial-run of my thesis experiment, I am running a fairly simple 2x3 ANOVA with an anticipated interaction. Perhaps this is telling of my lack of understanding of stats, but my idea of figuring out the differences between the levels... more »

Use cronbach alpha to determine whether a factor is reliable?
Dear all, I have a question regarding Cronbach Alpha, and it's cutoff criteria. Any suggestions are very much appreciated! I did a factor analysis on 27 items and extracted five factors (Cronbach alpha ranges from .47 to .68). The summary of findings is presented below. Factor A: 5 items, Crobach alpha=0.68... more »
