I'm experiencing some problems with Scicos under Scilab 5.0.x for WXP
SP3.
- Pal Tree command is not working. The new window appears with the
blocks name but without icons. When I try to drag the block's name
nothing happens;
- One of the new features of Scilab 5 should have been the possibility
to use the Scilab's shell when Scicos is running. This is not possible
in my case. I have the prompt and can write a command (such as <a=2>)
but it simply frozen when entering [RETURN] still keeping Scicos
working;
Not specific to Scicos:
- The fonts' rendering of any graphic windows is poor;
In addition, I'm still not able to use any graphic window under Linux
with an Intel graphic card and I did not get useful replies other than
to disable the hardware accelerator.
Best,

Scicos does work under scilab-5. There is just some problems related
to graphics card. If you have the good graphic card, it works.

As the developer of Scicos, I consider that Scicos DOES NOT work under
Scilab 5. This is not just a graphics card problem, in particular the
problem with the PalTree command not working has really nothing to do
with this. But I am happy to know that you find even the non working
version of Scicos satisfactory.
Cheers.

May I say that I'm a little bit disoriented?

Have a nice day.

* Tcl/Tk features are still inactive (eg. "Palette Tree")
So, there is something like a work in progress related to tcl/tk and
scicos.
Let's wait for the version 5.1 :)

Still, something is not clear to me:
- The GUI of Scilab 4 is based on Tcl/tk
- The GUI of Scilabgtk is based on Gtk+
- The GUI of Scilab 5 is based on Java "and" Tcl/tk
is it right?
Is Scilabgtk a "stand-alone" version of Scilab or it will be improved
as the java-based version?

Yes

The ScilabGtk will not be improved. The last version was released to
include scicos-4.2.1. The developpement will be focused on NSP and
Scilab-5.
The Scilab-5.1, as I remember, will see a lot of improvement in scicos
(I was not able to find again the web page related to the 5.1
version).

Why is scicos included into the scilab-5.0.3-package that is presented
for download on www.scilab.org if it does not work in scilab 5? Or am i
missing something?
Max
This decision has been made by the Scilab team against the will of the
developers of Scicos who wanted to wait until Scilab 5 problems are solved.
