you're aware of "ANSI/IEEE Standard 754-1985", right?  as Mr Devore
wrote, this is a consequence of attempting precision arithmetic on a
finite-precision machine.  as long as maplesoft did a diligent job, as
long as you are aware of this and can program around it, you're safe.
