how to distinguish between superscript and power?

Let's say I want to enter a variable name in Maple 12,

phi^H

Here the "H" is the superscript, not the power, ie. "H" itself is not
a variable, it is just a label.

How do I do that?

Do not try that, avoid to use it for type setting
