Lost icons in ArcView 3.3

Hi,

I just started working for a company that uses ArcView 3.3. For some
reason when editing a map, certain icons will disappear after they are
used. For example, when I'm adding a text box, I click on the "T"
icon and add text, but if I want to go back and add text along a line,
when I go to click the drop-down the "T" icon is no longer there. To
get it back, I have to go to into Customize Tools and re-apply the
text icon. The same thing happens when adding lines or other shapes.

I looked for a patch on the ESRI website, but didn't find anything
specifically for this. Has anyone else had this problem?
