Dear Friend

We have developed mission critical application for our company. We used Uniface 6 then migrated to Uniface 7. We are actually using Windows XP for our clients and Oracle as Database.

We will soon migrate our application to Uniface 9 and we are planning to use Virtual Desktop of VMWare and thin client. Did anyone already implement such environment. We should be much grateful to you if you could give us more information and was there any performance issue.

Hope to hear from you soon

Best regards,

Areff

I was teting Sun VirtualBox on Windows 7 Ultimate (hardware notebook 2GB RAM, 250GB HD).

In VirtualBox ver. 3.1 there was Win XP installed ( allocated 1GB ram and 20 GB virtual disk ) with installed Sybase ASE 12.5 ( 6 GB database test data ) and Uniface 7, 8, 9 for miagration and testing purposes...

No bigger problems experienced.

You will want to make sure that you mention the Virtual Machine setup to
Compuware as there maybe specific licence requirements depending on your
setup. We had to install an additional file to make sure the config was
correct. We also have some issues with performance but I suspect that is
more to do with our VM config than Uniface as its at the DB end that we
get issues.
