Has anyone found a solution for combining print output of images (a company logo) and 'Page X of YYYY' with a Uniface report?

Thought perhaps we could write print output to a file and then replace the 'YYYY'' with the actual last page number before sending the data to a printer, but suspect this will only be possible if the output is written in Ascii format (thus losing any logo).

Perhaps it wouldn't be difficult for a .NET programmer to combine the text from a Uniface application with a Word template (via COM?) to produce good laser printer output, but don't have any experience of that or the difficulties that might ensue (e.g. Would it require a different template for each report, even if the template only contains 'standard' header details: i.e. including the logo and page numbers?).

The Uniface application is a system for sale, so I don't think we can oblige our customers to invest in a dedicated reporting tool.

Any advice appreciated!

Hi Robert,

the "page of pages" is a very old question in the Uniface World.

The "best" way is
1: "print" it the first time to get the YYYY.
2: print it the next time in the final layout.

One option is to define 2 logical printers of the same kind:
one where you stopped the printout (so you do not waste paper)
and an identical one which prints the final stuff

Success, Uli

If you purchase Crystal Reports developer edition, you can then
release the runtime viewer to your customers for free and view/print
the reports.

This has several advantages over Uniface as a report processor.

1. MUCH more WYSIWYG.
2. Exports to Excel, Word, PDF and others.

I have recently posted our Crystal report view/print screen to TURF
(http://hosted.byjones.co.uk/turf/index.php).
