are these posts computer generated (random), hand typed
(too much LSD? maybe not enough), or some method of
encoding?
could be some sort of a puzzle...
or a million monkeys sitting at type writers, and an elephant
that picks the best articles to post...
Rich
They are computer generated.
NewsMaestro seems to be the tool causing the problem driven by an
antisocial idiot that needs to have his fingers broken.
He's either hipcrime back from the past or a hipcrime wantabe. He doesn't
like what people says so he floods groups with his shit. He's worse than a
crying 2 year old.
He posts messages about his NewsMaestro software and tries to get people to
download it and use it. I've wondered if the software is actually allowing
him to operate it remotely so anyone who is stupid enough to install it
ends up getting their Usenet account hijacked and used to flood Usenet.
That could explain how he's able to keep doing this over and over. Or
maybe it just sends him the Usenet account name and password the people
enter when they use it?
I see his source forge account for the software has been taken down.
I fear every time I post something like this telling people about him it
only causes him to flood the group I post the message to.

The "software" used is actually hipcrime, renamed. The script-kiddie
only daily scans open proxy lists to fetch new machines to be used for
floods.
> I fear every time I post something like this telling people about him it
I don't think that posting something like this will do any change anyway.

There are news servers filtering this crap very efficiently. You can
also ask your newsmaster to use various NoCeM announces within
news.lists.filters that are currently cleaning most of the crap.
(People interesting in discussing this issue are also welcome in
news.admin.net-abuse.policy for suggestions and remarks)

I've only seen 3 spam post in the last 3 days (all from the RR
system). Somebody is doing some filtering in my news feed.
I think I've cleared 400-500. But sometimes I'll check the group, then
leave, and check again an hour later. Sometimes the messages are gone. I
assume someone ran a killbot on those.

I've noticed that about 30% of the sporge ones that pop up lately are "no longer downloadable" when I check back sometime later.
Hopefully they all get killed.
