As a Quark newbie I've already discovered how to pull guides out of
the rulers and position them with the mouse. Doing so, the
measurements palette (is that the correct name?) shows the coords of
the guide. As soon as I move my hand towards the keyboard, measurement
palette will be empty - great idea of the GUI developer. But I don't
want to fumble with the mouse (and I am unable to reach the exact
positions I've calculated before), I want to type in the exact
position of the guide. How can I do this?

TIA Robert

Under Utilities->Guide Manager - it's a little goofy to figure out but
works, I think. ;)

I use Badia's FullMeasure XT - adds a bunch of useful stuff to the
measurement palette including guide placement.

Hi Jono,

that Guide Manager is goofy! But I will figure out...

Thanks for guiding me!

If you hate Quirk's abortion of a tool as much as I do try the Gluon Pro
Guides XT instead.
http://www.gluon.com/gluonFrame.htm

It's not dirt cheap at $99.00 but it does pay for itself pretty quickly
if you use a lot of guides in your layouts.

Best,
