I'm on my 3rd also. This one's a piece of junk too. I'll just stick with
it and buy another brand when it fails.

Regards,
Mike

There is a known problem with the 7502. There is a fan at the back of the
drive and on lots of units, it goes crazy. It will make a lot of noise. Oil
didn't really help on the long run.

But, if you can burry your PC in a sound-isolated room you'll get a great CD
recorder.

No more than there is a "known problem" on any real world product. While
it is true that some 7502 drives have fan problems, it is also true that
other drives have their own share of problems. If your fan goes bad, get
the drive replaced or serviced, just as you would with any other product.

Yes. I have an internal CW-7502 which, for some strange reason,
stopped recognizing blank CDR media. In other words, when I insert a
blank CDR, my mouse cursor cycles endlessly between hourglass/pointer.
Any ideas?

I got a CW-7582, the IDE version. Sometimes, when reading, it'll make a really
loud buzzing noise, stop, and try again. The drive still works, although I'm
concerned about this. Does anyone know if this is normal behaviour?

My first CW-7502B made the same noise and occasionally had trouble reading
discs. I returned it for a new one which has been quiet and very reliable.

My experience with the incompatible "blue appearance" Maxell disks has been
that the drive recognizes it as a blank, and will even go through the full
test, but when trying to start the write, it will give a track i/o error or
laser calibration error depending on the software. I have not had this
problem with mine. I would check to make sure it recognizes factory pressed
cd's. A scsi or termination problem could cause problems like that.

Everytime I access my Panasonic 588 CDrom, my computer resets and
reboots!!!
My Panasonic CDR 7502b did the same thing at first but now I can read
CD's from it ???
My 588 could be defective, but i can access it from DOS , therfore I
suspect a window 98 conflict although there is no evidence of this. The
exception is when I access my 588 by Explorer it sometimes instead of
rebooting gives me a
Blue screen saying:0D or OE error called by Vxd scsihlp(3)

Remove/rename the SCSIHLP1.VXD file, this is often the solution.

Thanks Sybren for the tip but can you expand on that please what is this
file and what are the consequences of removing it .What caused the
problem in the first place?

Pfff...now you're asking. I don't really know, other than that it
fixed a lot of problems for me :)

You don't have to remove it, you can also rename it. As soon as a
program starts complaining "can't find scsihlp1.vxd", rename it back.

Sybren : Many thanks !!! I renamed the VxD scsihlp driver ,rebooted and
it solved my problem.I can now access my CDROM. My only fear is that
since this driver seems to be related to a SCSI driver it might prevent
me from burning with my SCSI Panasonic CDR.Any thoughts on that ?
