I never owned a Plextor, however, everything I ever read about them is good,
in spite of being a little over priced.

Arguably the best available. (I have one.)

I'm on my third Plextor writer they have all been excellent, I would not
consider anything else.

I replaced my 8/20 with a 12/4/32 because I wanted more speed and re-write.
I now have a 12/10/32 SCSI to try burn-proof and will be connecting that to
my laptop. When I bought a writer for a friend I purchased a 1210a for her.
My readers are Plextor as well.

I have three (including a rebranded IOMEGA) I would not have anything
else. A few years ago I got sick of fooling around with junky modems
no matter how little they cost. I ended up buying a USR Courier V.
Everything external. Best modem ever made IMHO. I still use it...in
fact I am using it now (John..I found the wall wart power supply
...for the record it is 20VDC!).

I now feel the same about CD-RW devices. No use in fooling around
with anything but Plextor. They are almost bullteproof..I say almost
because my first 121032 IDE drive died shortly after receiving it.
Any manufacturer can have a bad component in a device sometimes.

However, Plextor tech support and customer service is A1. I received
a replacement drive in two days after I called them for warranty
replacement.

Onvia (where I purchased the drive) informed me that not only would it
take 10 days to get a RMA for the Plextor, but they were back ordered
20,000 units and it would be the end of the month before they had
anymore. Onvia is off my vendor list...but that's another story.

Good Luck

I still say "Mitsui Silver" - http://www.cdrplanet.com

I recommend that brand for ANY recording! I use it for every CD I make and
have very few players that won't play them.

We've found TDK to work well with this particular burner (the 4220).
Maxell's work but don't read in all drives. We've just bought a batch of
Mitsui silver discs - initial impressions are favourable.

Cheers

James.
