Tighter regulation?
|
| |
Hello friends,
Does anyone know what setting can be changed that will cause
tighter regulation of the offset. My goal is to get clk_wander to
equal as close to zero as possible more often. I would also like
to see the frequency adjusted with every change in offset data;
it currently does not appear to do that; it seems to be random.... more »

I think you need to first ask yourself how much of an offset is acceptable. The default for a step adjustment is 0.128 seconds, but this value can be tinkered in the ntp.conf file with the following command:
tinker step .005
Going below 0.005 seconds doesn't seem practical as ntp will not slew the time when the offset is above the step setting. Since slewing the time is preferred, how much of an offset is acceptable to you?... more »

pool.ntp.org : IPv6 monitoring seems broken
|
| |
Hi,
Looking at my ntp sever stats in the pool
( [link] ), I see the IPv6 address is not
reached by monitoring station. However IPv4 is same machine, and works.
I tried a ntpdate -d and got following result :
bibi:~ % ntpdate -d 2a01:e0b:2070::1
18 May 19:22:05 ntpdate[10782]: ntpdate 4.2....@1.2349-o Sat May 12 09:54:56 UTC 2012 (1)... more »

May 2013 Windows Update causing rapid 'ntpd' drift
|
| |
Hello,
Just installed this month's Windows Update
patches on an old/slow Windows XP laptop
(1.5GHz Pentium-M) and it appears to have
damaged Windows 'ntpd' time-keeping.
Has anyone else observed this?
Before the patch 'ntpd' frequency was -15.761
PPM. After the patches 'ntpd' frequency... more »

No. You are using the University of Delaware ntpd daemon, aka the reference implementation. All that Meinberg do to it is package it with a Windows installer.

symmetric active while configurion uses server mode, RFC compliant or not?
|
| |
Hello,
After having read the RFC 5905 and having partially understood it (much
too technical about time aspects for me), I still cannot figure out
whether the fact I observe are:
- RFC compliant or not
- a configuration error on my side
- a bug in the software I use (ntpd)
- the symptoms of a attack or attempts of attack.... more »

Meinberg NTP client continuously resync to server

Hello:
I have one server, T, and 4 client computers. The server is attached
to 11 close-by stratum 2 Internet time servers and operates in broadcast
mode. It is about 10 PM in Philadelphia, PA, USA, and the Internet is
relatively quiet. The clients connect to the server in broadcast client... more »

If the time drifts too far out in something less than days,
your PC probably counts as broken.
On the other hand if your ntp.conf contains
the 127.127.1.u Undisciplined Local Clock (LOCAL)
defined, perhaps that is your issue.
