Subject: Network Busy
I have 2 computers, one runs RHL6.1,  the other W98. Each will ping the
other. I am having problems with Samba. When I enter '/etc/rc.d/init.d/smb
start' on the linux machine its icon shows up in Network Neighbourhood.
However, when I click on its icon all I get  is "The network is busy". Any
idea what causes this problem?

Since writing the above I have found www.samba.org/samba and have carried
out the tests on the Diagnosing Samba page. Tests 1. 2. 4. 5. and 6. all
pass. Tests 3. 7. and 8. do not.
Tests 3. and 7. simply report failed. Test 8. says busy or out of resources.
I have considered the issues raised in test 3 and they do not appear to be
relevant . Having said that I have only had linux for a short time and may
have missed something.
It may be that log.nmb holds the answer. The log is very long but the punch
line appears to be " error - should be sent to WINS server.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
